Different Type of Mods you may/not do for your 4T?

These mods are different in that they are not popular due to whatever reason.

So the question is: Would you do this mod?
Another question: What mod do you want to do but have seen NO ONE has done so yet or too few have done. Of course all of these mods are unnecessary and have cheaper alternatives, but that isn't the point of this thread.

I'll start: These are quirky, interesting, but I'm not sure I would do it "mods"

1) On some new luxury cars (thought I saw it one a Range Rover), when you open the door, a light with the Toyota Logo appears on the ground. Pretty neat, sort of "ricey", but interesting.

2) Tire pressure system. The TPMS in our 4R are a joke IMO. Light turns on the dash, but doesn't tell you which tire. On some cars, there is a display that tells you what pressure each tire is currently. Of course, our trucks don't have this and some venders on ebay have a cumbersome display (the size of garmins that display this). This is kind of sloppy if you ask me. Here are some cool items:

3) Blind Spot system: Of course there are less expensive ways to do this, but like I mentioned, this is a "hey, that's cool, but not sure I would do this" thread.

4) Illuminated Door Sills. Again, these are available from the factory for some luxury cars. If you go on ebay, you can find them for your Corolla, Camry, LandCruise, Highlander................ but nothing for 4Runner. I had them for my Civic, but no longer work. The shop I had them installed did a crummy job on wiring them.

the puddle light image is a toss up.

the blind spot is nice since you can DIY cheaper than a factory version, which we don't have atm, will trickle down from the gx460 eventually.

imo the door sill lighted is a vanity issue. 95% + of the time you don't even see them. and for the price, I can use that somewhere else like diamond plate metal door sill protectors like they have over on the Tacoma world forums.

And they're add-on's, not modifications.

My SR5 has those puddle lights under the side view mirrors from factory. It's similar to the door lights.

Yeah, the puddle light image is neat, but doesn't have that "I gotta have it factor". The blind spot is cool, but most aftermarket kits have an LED you mount in the interior. I like most OEM applications where the warning lights are inside the rearview mirrors. I'm a big fan of keeping things looking factory.

Mods/add-ons, whatever. You are modifying your truck by installing something that wasn't there from the factory. I agree, most is dress-up stuff. Tire monitoring is somewhat useful, when it starts to get cold, I've had tires go down without me knowing it until the pressure was really low (but not physically noticeable). Again, not needed, but still a cool "toy".

My only issue with most of this stuff is durability. Most likely it will break at some point soon unlike factory "toys". The LED door sill I installed (I had installed) didn't last too long. I would hate to go through all the trouble installing it only for it to last not even a year. Luckily for me, they are already installed, holes are already bored out, so difficult part is done. I just have to rip the old sills out and stick the new ones on. Properly wiring it should be easy too. A warning to those interested in the lighted door sills: most kits come from China and the "transformer" (I think that is what it's called) that come with each LED are cheaply made, so install it in a place that is easy to get to when it comes time to replace it. I liked my lighted door sills a lot.

I recently ordered a rear view mirror "case" with LED turn signal and puddle lights. I ordered them about 15 days ago, so they should arrive in about 7 years (from china).

Yeah, I have to agree... wouldn't put any of this stuff on my truck.
