Differential/Transfer Case Fluids

Just called my local Toyota dealership about the cost of the 75w85 gear oil and he mentioned that there are actually two different types between the diffs and transfer case. Also the cost per litre was outrageous, ~25/L for the diffs and ~50/L for the transfer case  He strongly suggested to use some 75w90 gear oil instead, both GL-5. The difference was that the diff oils have different additives than the transfer case?

I just called another Toyota dealership and she said that I had to bring in my own jug because they just pump it out of the bulk containers at ~6/L and it's 75w90 GL-5 all the way through and there is no difference.

Can anyone clarify what the heck is going on!

The manual specifies 75w for the transfer whether part-time or full-time -- 75w-85 for the front/rear. The full-time transfer is the same one as in the 4th gen which specifies 75w-90.

If it were me, I'd use 75w-90 all around and call it a day.
