i know this is well off topic, but would you happen to know the threads in the bung on 1st gen roll bar? i've been losing my mind trying to find hardware.

Very beautiful runner! By far my favorite color and such an awesome build. I'm looking to pickup a 1st or 3rd gen runner when I move to Vegas in the next couple months and you are really gonna make me miss North Dakota snow! We don't have any good wheeling like you have around there but driving in the snow is probably the best part of ND. Hopefully I can find some decent areas within reasonable distance to some snow from Vegas.

Thanks! It's been tricky and time consuming working around the existing bumper, but it should all work out. The one aspect I didn't think about was opening the carrier while the trailer is hooked up behind the 4Runner, but without going to an Addicted style "Lambo" carrier that would be an issue with any carrier. If there is an issue I should be able to work it out on the trailer side, hopefully.
I wanted to keep the main section of the carrier like a spine, and have the supports intersect that main tube. That allows me options down the road for extra removable accessories installed off that main tube. And, I wanted to build something that challenged myself and didn't look like everything else that is available on the market. I had the spike from an old project and it "flowed" better than just capping the end. With the tire on the carrier, you can only see it from the side of the 4Runner (if your looking for it).
This is really one of those projects where all the details are in my head, and everything should work together when it's all said and done; it's going to be a surprising minimalistic tire carrier until you start to look at the small details.

I don't know off the top of my head, but you should be able to find a match at your local hardware or automotive store. I'm guessing the same size as your seatbelt hardware, maybe M10 or M12?

so i got to thinking as i was looing at your spare tire swingout, and the only think i dont like is the spear in the top(never been a fan of sharp points on vehicles -are you entering the runner in "death race"?) have you thought about making that a mounting point for a flag or antenna, say like for a CB or 2m/ham. you could fasion a small flat plate up there to help reflect the signal back up to the antenna, and it would be up high enough to not let the roof or passenger compartment interfere with signal.
i know a lot of guys run the drifter mount, but the big issue with that is it puts the base of the antenna so low it blocks a lot of potential signal. antennas like a large flat plane around them and or to be up high to get good signal. and i think that would be an ideal location, its up close to the top of the roof, its not going to have much of anything to block its signal. if you dont want the antenna up there to be getting smacked all the time you could use a quick disconnect to be able to remove it when not needed. and or if you have a 2m/ham you could get a 40+w receiver and need only say a 6-18" antenna to get some good distance, say like 20miles or so... you could get a bigger antenna that could push over 100 miles if you were in more open terrain say like moab where trees and low hanging branches are not a concern. -antennas even for a 2m are not that hard to change -like 2 min tops.

I just got my monthly dirtco update. Looks good. How long have you been trying to figure out where you plan to mount the rear camera and how you plan to view it front the inside?

I don't plan on having a back up camera at this point, but now that you put the idea in my head...
My Pioneer headunit does have an input for a back up camera, so it wouldn't be too hard to install one. I just don't know if it's really needed or worth the effort, I guess we'll see down the road.
The plate is 3/8", and I am using 4 wheel studs. The latch came in, and I spent a little time last weekend figuring out how to make it work. I hope to make a little more progress this weekend.

It seems like third time was a charm, and after I installed the replacement nose cone Magnuson sent me the leak was gone. Knock on wood!

Ha I've been having the same mindset, that back-up cameras were overrated.... Then on the last outing, of course I back into a tree that I couldnt see in any of my mirrors. Luckily it hit the spare tire rubber (slowly) so no damage happened, but it was good for a laugh.

Glad to hear the supercharger is working like it should. It took a couple of my lunches to get caught up on everything. As always your work is outstanding.
Back up Cameras..funny I just found one on the shelf in the garage I bought a couple of years ago. I think it will be a MOnday project. Visibility out the rear of my Trekker isn't great, even after removing the rear swing out.

I think you were at your folks recently. I was pulling around the corner in my Dodge and saw you there. I am usually in and out on Mondays & Tuesdays..
Your 4Runner is looking great.
I am looking forward to seeing Jerimiah snow wheeling pics. Colorado has some awesome scenery.

Yeup, I was, had to pic up some mail... Their house is my home of record for the military -allows me to keep an ODL and save on sales tax in Vancouver...
