Yep, thats the look I had as the tree was falling.

Probably some severe scratching though.

Yeah there are some scratches, it looks more like hail damage from the branch stubs hitting the truck.

Am I the only one waiting for the to be continued?

Man that had to be hard to watch as it happened. Hopefully it's not to bad.

It actually fell pretty slow. Between the root structure and the soil the tree didn't have a chance, unfortunately I didn't know that because of all the snow.

Well the roof isn't dented because it's the top of the tree but the hood could be pretty bad, hard to see with the tree in the way! LOL

I bet nobody ever thought that a bumper hoop would be saving you from a falling tree!

The roof got it the worst, but thats because the top of the tree flexed into it when it fell. Your totally right, I would have never guessed a front bumper would save my truck from a falling tree.

Dang! I hope it will 'buff' out....:lol: Seriously, sorry man, that sucks.

This year has been rough on your rig. I hope the rest of the year is much better for you.

May be time for a winch cradle and separate winch for reverse winching.. Especially since you wheel by yourself a bunch.

Yeah, it's been a rough year but it was a good trip besides for the tree. Half the trees are dead in the area, and most of the live ones are too small to winch off. I've been doing this for years and it's the first time a tree has come down.

Winch cradles suck, if you've ever tried to move one around you know what I'm talking about. I couldn't imagine trudging around in a couple feet of snow with one! If the 4Runner was a purpose built snow wheeler I would install a rear winch some place under the body. But it's not worth adding a couple hundred pounds for something that "might" get used once a year, and I have to live with the rest of the year. Not to mention all the road grime and mag-chloride would kill the rope/wire.

Thank you! Yes, luckily I brought my chainsaw that day. I actually made a special trip to get mixed fuel because I was out, and I'm damn glad I did! I cut the tree up, removed it, and used my winch extension to find another tree to winch off of.

On to the "damage" pictures, as you can see it's not that bad. There is a small dent in the middle of the roof, and a couple spots on the hood. I highly doubt anyone would even notice them, and if I pulled the headliner i could probably pop most of the dent out on the roof.

All things considered I think you got off pretty luck there. Did the crack in the windshield happen from the tree too or was it already like that? Looks good as always

Oh yeah, it could've been a lot worse! The windshield was already cracked, I've been meaning to get it replaced. From a normal angle you don't notice anything (not that I really care).

Wow you got off so lucky. My dad's truck the first time he rolled it(its benn rolled a few times now..) was SO slow it was like your tree fall. He was going across a ditch about the size of his truck (7' or so) and as he was going up the other side he was off angle some and as he reached towards the top the tires slipped and he slide one way and hit the brakes. It stopped and tettered for like 30 seconds and then slowly rolled the rest of the way, it took minutes for it to happen. To top it off he had a guy in the passenger seat who had his arm & chest in a sling/cast cause he just had rotator cuff surgery..lol.

All I can say is it that if that is the scenery you get to look at everyday I sure am jealous. Good deal about the incident too, doesn't look too bad.

That's not bad.. It doesn't sound like you're crazily upset about it but if it ends up bugging you in the long run, I bet a paintless dent remover can get those spots out the doors and the roof for around $200.

I consider these "character" dents. I try my hardest to keep the truck straight and not mess the body up, but things happen when your running hard trails and taking the hardest lines. Every dent and scratch has a story, and I'm proud of that!

Haha, then my rig came to me from the P.O. with an abundance of character. Nothing too big, or noticeable from ~15 feet away. lol. So many weird little dents and dimples that make you wonder how they managed to do it, without doing much worse.

Is that roof dent something that could get pushed back if you took the roof liner off and applied some force?
