Alright so for those if you that are curious gather round because the story is there and I'm going to tell you what you need to hear, it started a month ago when I got back from deployment you see...okay seriously, I got back from deployment and had shit for tires, the kuhmos I had were just terrible. So I took my happy ass to the discount tire near base the day after I got back. I told the guy I needed to get new tires and I want to get 285s, that being said I figured they wouldn't put them on because of rubbing issues. I said I wanted a test fit so we put em on and they actually cleared the UCA with an about 1/8th inch gap. Good enough for me beings my drive to Texas was due in the next hour. So driving around town, I didn't have any rubbing, driving 23 hours straight to Texas, minimal rubbing till I got about 23 miles from my parents house I started hitting the UCA when I would go above 55mph. After that I had to reroute because they were doing work on I-10 I hit a sharp turn and rubbed the inside of my wheel well pretty good on the passenger side.
With all that being said I would say that it's safe to run them IF you're only doing daily driving, I wouldn't keep your truck at stock hight for too long if you're going to run 285s the least you can do is get the front 1 1/4 inch coil spacers from toytec. Or if you want to keep it at stock hight, the 1.25inch wheel spacers also work wonders. At the very least of what I have explained I would say that there are precautions to take into consideration when going with 285s at stock hight.
