Disable VSC, TRAC, and ABS without damaging factory wiring

Yea - this is a confusing and conflicting post - some nay sayers I guess.

My issues are probably pretty popular - and not in a good way.

Loss of power in 2wd at critical times. Loss of power (wheel braking) in hi-4 or in low-4 if you happen to exceed the rev limit - no matter what your actual speed... - like when you get mired in the mud and want to use the horsepower of the rig to power out! Exceed a rev limit and your switch will pop you back into powerless mode!

Second - ABS... great for grandma - but there are times when sliding a couple inches forward in the wrong spot can be a death sentence. I want braking to be pure mechanical - when I put my foot to the floor on the brake I mean to stop! I don't want a computer second guessing me.

My idea of traction control is a controlled skid under full power.

Lastly - I plowed 25 miles of deep snow on the continental devide a couple years ago - and it overheated the tranny so I could only go 5 mph. Complete disconnect between tranny and road. Most of the overheating was due I'm sure to one of these systems squeezing power from my drive-line as I progressed.

Now I've got a 2009 limited - and it has the VSC switch and another... but I want something to stop these systems. The 50/50 diff lock would be good to keep - but the rest of this stuff is bull_ _ _ _. Will this mod work on my truck? Do I even need it with the switch - or will this really cut the power-grab and brake assist out?

I'll have to re-read when I've got coffee I guess. Any help appreciated.

I own a 05 T4R V6 2wd Sport Edition w/Auto LSD. How would this VSC mod work with Auto LSD? I know Auto LSD works via brake operation by transferring power to other wheel, Is VSC automatically disengaged when I press the Auto LSD button, or does VSC work with Auto LSD function? If I did do the VSC mod will this disable the Auto LSD function as well? I've read that VSC cuts off engine power and this mod disables that but some people said otherwise, that being said, If this mod allows for it to not disable engine power and if the VSC mod does not affect the Auto LSD function, will turning off the VSC enhance the performance of the Auto LSD function?... allowing me the throttle out/power through certain off road terrains?

thanks for asking, I've got the same questions especially after it tried to kill me several times pulling out into traffic in Atlanta snow and ice with huge power drop.

But I've moved south since then...

So it looks like this mod just disables the abs function from what i have gathered. So how do you keep the vsc from cutting throttle

So I just tried this mod. I spliced into the white wire, used butt connectors to attach a wire on each end. Fed it up to through firewall to a spst switch. Plugged it back in under the dash. Now when I start all the lights for this mod are on before I flip the switch. Turn engine off and on try multiple times and it still lights up before I flip switch? What did I do wrong? Suggestions??

does it

So if i am in 4 low or 4 high can i lock the center diff to get the true 50/50 power split front and rear and then activate the switch and then disable the abs and atrac and not damage anything? Ive onlt seen people doing this and running the center lock open

did this today.. spliced the wire.. soldered the new wires in.. OEM VSC OFF switch hacked..

has to be pushed in for the VSC to work as stock, which is fine.. took all of 45 minutes..

I dont understand what the big deal is for the guys who cant pull the trigger on this mod...

As far as I have read you will be able to disable the Atrac and VSC by holding in the factory VSC button for longer. I think there was a recent post on it, maybe even an older one in this thread.

So I could've sworn I knew what I was doing but now I'm confused. If I just wanna disable the VSC I should put a switch on the Red line? And if I want to disable VSC and ATRAC I should put a switch on the Green/White line? I thought I had it figured but when I unplugged the green/white plug nothing lit up on the dash. When I unplug the red/white/black then VSC, ABS, and VSC Trac come on but not the car with the squiggly lines (which I thought was the ATRAC). Could someone help me out? Ultimately I want my ATRAC disabled.

Cut that red wire and...HIT IT!
No more nanny.

The early 4th gens don't have the VSC button as far as I know.

VSC TRAC light is the throttle kill, no?
Squiggly lines is you are slipping?

Just posted this in my build thread with some pictures.
Super easy mod. Factory should have installed these from the start.
Although I imagine its easier on the drive system if your not roasting the tires all the time.

There was that Ruski,:AK47: he made a neat little device to turn the nanny off, have not seen him post in a long time.

So will splicing the red wire disable the throttle control? Because that's what I want.

Kliv, that's him.
My 6year old PC bit the dust and I have a lot of links and pics I need to recover.

V6 4x4 2004 is all I can attest to.
Easy enough to splice it back together if you sell it or scare your wife or what ever.

Works in 2wd 4x4hi, 4x4low and with diff locked or not.

Yup, wheel spin to your hearts content.
Car off, flip switch, car on...no nanny, no click, click, click no beep, beep, beep no tick, tick, tick. <--insert your own sound effects.
Slide sideways...roost...FUN.

Safety note.
The OEM traction control system works very well, and for your average driver or new drivers I wouldn't recommend messing with it.
250hp is more than enough to get you in trouble fast if you don't know what your doing.

Also insurance issues? If you cause an accident with TRAC disabled, maybe something to think about, I have not heard of that, just a thought.

My hacked T4R.

useless button

Anyone else have an RSCA disable button? Has anyone tried to use this button for the disable trac, vsc mod? I dont really see a reason to disable the RSCA and this is a factory switch. with a little stencil work that button can say anything for me.

I just did this with a rocker switch. I had a green and white/black wire in the pressure switch. Cut the white/black, soldered speaker wire to the switch (I have locker, AC120v, RSCA and one blank in the dash - used the blank) and it works great.

I understand wanting to keep factory look but those switches would be difficult to wire up... All I can attest to is the simplicity of 2 wires to a simple switch, glad I kept to K.I.S.S. Plus if you ever sell, you'd not only want to undo the ABS/VSC mod but also undo the RSCA switch but just my $0.02.

I got a lighted dependent OTRATTW switch, have not hooked up the lighting but it works fine as-is, may just leave it alone. THANKS!

The RSCA switch is a momentary contact switch, it doesn't latch on/off.

So no , unless you use it to trigger a latching relay.
