Discount Tire made a mistake...but...?

Went ahead and did the very first thing really wanted to do with my TE: Swap those stock :repuke: tires and get something decent !

Told them three times over the phone, and once at the shop: Load C, not E... C, right? Well, I am back at my office, and guess what? All but one tire are C, one being E. Now, I was charged for four (4) load C DuraTracs, but got one E.

Question is, what should I do: Should I keep the E with the other three C's, or is it better to have them all four C? (At least they are all the same size: 265/70-17...:eek:)

Discount Tire is very good about returns (big part of their advertising), return them and get all four the same, C or E is your choice but all 4 (or 5) need to be the same tire

you should ask them to comp you the used load E for your spare. Dont add it into your rotations, use as emerg. only and it is fine to have as your spare

That's why I said 4 or 5. It's best to have all 5 the same. Running in 4 wheel drive with different tires (think getting a flat out on a trail, then driving home) is hard on the drive train because the wheel turn at different rates with different tires, even of the same listed sizes (minor differences from brand to brand and model to model).

Way good idea. Then when your four wear down and it's time for something else, sell the E-rated spare. :)
 
Sure. It's used, if they manage to sell it at all it'll still be at a loss. Ask them to give it to you to comp you for your time dealing with their screwup.

But, used as in less than one day of use? I going to try, but doubt I can pull this one off.

Expecting tires and wheels from DTD this week, hopefully Friday.

Will I have a problem fitting the wheels and tires in my 4R, since everything is being shipped to my house?

Yes, used. Once they mount it and it touches pavement, they can't sell it as a new tire. They're already going to eat it as a loss, so it can't hurt to ask 'em.
 
a tire shop giving you 1 e rated tire and 3 c's is COMPLETELY unacceptable and they know it. They need to fix the problem and make you a happy customer. If you would not have looked (read this as in someone that doesnt know the difference), you would be driving around with some crazy one-sided physics going on under you car. It probably ended up under your rig b/c the installer or manager didnt have 4 avail. and thought maybe they could get away with it. Very uncool and malicious if thats the case!
I would DEMAND it be fixed and plan on coming out with either a discount of 20% off what you have paid or that free tire, or i would be all over the internet spraying a bad name for them and make sure they know it.
Some things are ok, some are not.

Well, what happened is this:

I called four shops to see who had the DuraTracs in load C...none of them. All of them could order, but will take a couple of days. This shop where I went did not have them either, but they told me they could have them there by the same afternoon or the next day. The sales rep called me later in the afternoon that day to tell me that their delivery had screwed two times bringing three load C's and one E. He had the guy come back again, but told me over the phone that the tires would be ready late on the day or next day. I told him that I would rather go the next day early morning, which I did. I think that in this case it was an honest mistake and confusion. I willl see what I can get done.

my God dude the sky isnt falling... could be a honest mistake.... maybe we should call Obama he makes everything all better LMAO
