We all could be jumping on everyone's butts and criticizing near every post here in some fashion. What a great place that would be... With google, wikipedia, your local library or whatever..you probably don't need to ever come here to find an answer.

But that goes against what this forum is for.

If you are someone who gets annoyed, irritated or visibly upset from someones post, that is not the poster's problem, its yours.

We have folks from all different backgrounds here, maybe even some with considerable low IQs and mental re****ation. None of which disqualifies someone from using this board and certainly doesn't entitle them to take crap from another board user.

How you choose to answer and post is your own, but being respectful is the social norm.

How so? My only contention is with those who feel they can treat others with disrespect. I don't think it can be justified, thats just something the military has ingrained in me.

I have no personal feelings on this. But I do believe that people...even on the internet and with minimal posts in a forum...should be treated with respect.

If I'm working on my truck one day and run inside to do a quick search on this forum for an answer, and this thread comes up, I'm going to be pissed. Threads like this, and people not searching and creating duplicate threads, are the reason people give smart-ass answers. I hope a mod moves this to off-topic.

Try some Xanax maybe? If something that insignificant is going to piss you off you have some pretty large problems man.

A good forum will cater to all who have questions. It wont just cater to those few who know how to do a proper search.

Im on a few different forums that cater to some fairly specific interests ranging from guns, guitars to the 4runner. This one by far seems more "hostile" than the others.

Ive only been on this forum a short time, and by and large my interactions with other members have been positive, but I have seen more than a few posts where members were just downright rude in responding to questions. Its made me think twice about asking or posting stuff on here.

I kind of suspect that maybe for a long time this forum was really only frequented by a select few, who have come to view this as "their" forum, and are put off by the arrival of newer members who may not be as web or tech savvy.

I think you have it wrong. The people that have been here the longest are not the problem. It's some of the new people who have joined within the past ten months or so.

Most of the people who have been here for a while are really chill.

It's rather amusing listening to grown men "generalizing here" start posts about how they feel offended on an internet forum. While I agree at times some people here can be insensitive or offensive, at the end of the day do you really care what they say???? It's not like you're ever gonna meet 99.9% of these people.

Half of the $hit people post on here is a matter of opinion anyway, rarely do you find factual, unbiased opinions so take everything you hear on the forum with a grain of salt.........after all, it's free information and it's a free public forum for people to say and do as they please.

If you don't like what you hear on a message posted, you can either ignore it, PM the individual and tell them to F@ck Off, or use the "SEARCH" function which will 99.9% of the time give you the answer you were looking for anyway (especially since most post relate to Floor Mats, Which Size Tires Fit, Running Boards, etc)

Final Thoughts: Some of you need to get "thicker" skin, swallow your pride, especially if you think you are more important then you really are and most of all.........YOU NEED TO GET OVER YOURSELF (second time I've made this comment on this forum).

The 2 main types of shat stirrers/smart ashes seem to be members with older 4Runners come in this section and cut this Gen down out of I guess jealousy, even though not as much lately, and the other is people that owned cars or unibody SUV's all their life,bought the 4runner on looks alone and are surprised that the 4Runner steers ,brakes,handles and just plain rides like a truck.

I've given smart a$$ comments before. I've gotten smart a$$ comments before. Both of which will continue. The interesting thing about communicating through text is that tone and inflection is almost completely lost. Also, because there is no face to face, it's impossible to read into a person's emotional state (i.e. cheerful, calm, angry, annoyed, etc.). This is why text conversations can easily be misinterpreted. Smilies seem to help out with this, so if you find one that applies to the conversation, use it.

Read your manuals, search the forum (i.e. What size tire, Will not start, P0305 code, etc.) then post a question. If you don't do this, then you may get a smart a$$ reply. And you deserve it. You may just get a straight answer with just the information you need. Either way, someone on this forum will help you out. :cheers:

i look back 5 years ago at some of my original threads and think to myself, what the hell was i thinking.

so like clemson said, its not the original members that are the problem because we all have been around long enough to know what is accepted and ok to post and not to post and what is appropriate and how far things can be taken.
