Which paint protection film you use? Now I realize I should had put the film when I installed the rack 5 months ago.

Yes I had all the shitte collected between the rubber thing and roof surface, had to scrape it off! Shitte builded up like solid rock.:Cry:

I have a question about the spacing between the rack's feet that mount to the roof. Does anyone know the distance between the two rack feet on either side?

I have the same question distance between feet mounts on a single gutter (not the spread distance)

if i understand your question, they mount into the bolt holes for the stock roof rails, iirc it's about 43"

I have the same question distance between feet mounts on a single gutter (not the spread distance)

to clarify, you're asking for the distance from the center of the middle bolted-on foot to the center of the front 3M mounted foot? if so it's roughly 28"

OP, looks like you initially stuck the front most feet onto the roof of the truck & then ultimately moved them to the gutter/roof channel (more outward). Any reason for this? Thinking about ordering tomorrow... Also not sure if I should do the fixed or movable crossbars. I'm thinking adjustable crossbars will pretty much always be a better idea for flexibility/adaptability. THANK YOU for the write up.

Does the ladder have to be offset or can it be mounted in the center? Wasn't sure if that was so ladder was over the hinge or what.

So I know there has been some controversy surrounding how long these take to get in, customer service or lack thereof...etc.

I've called and left Gobi a message on Monday - no response.
I've called and left Trail Duty a message yesterday - no response.

And this is of course me trying to give them money...I can only imagine when I try to get an update on an existing order. Maybe it's a sign...?

Hopefully my next mod will be the GOBI roof rack. Can't wait since i will be putting it to use a lot on camping trips and hauling stuff.

Just a tip.

Great write up, very informative. The only thing I would suggest is that before installing the rack, I took the opportunity to put a good coat of wax on the roof since it will be pretty much inaccessible after the rack goes on.

I'm currently on week... 10 since order placement with trail duty. While I knew it was going to take longer then the advertised 6-8 weeks, what I didn't expect was once communication was established directly with Gobi, that it would still seem to drag along.

That said once communication was made directly with Gobi I had hopes that my rack would be expedited through the process, however it would seem the "custom" application of some of my LED's has thrown a wrench into the production, hence causing delays I can only assume. 2 weeks ago they asked for me to send a LED for mock up, some delays with the shipping company added more time before they even received the LED (went next day air). A week went by from when the bar was received to my next communication with the engineer who wanted to discuss placement to make sure the rack was built correctly. That's awesome, and I really respected that call. Snapped a few pictures for clarification and emailed directly to the engineer, and it's gone silent again... A call to verify he had what he needed to move forward, VM.

So not sure what or when to expect my next "update" the first communication with Gobi had my rack shipping out today or yesterday, however given the most recent communication I'm to assume mine hasn't even been built yet...

Still way psyched to get the rack, but buyer beware expect a long wait. Had a similar experience when I order my last rack (INTI) for my FZJ80 from S America. But that was to be expected dealing with customs ect...

Estimate another 2 weeks when they tell you it's shipping. Mine wasn't custom and it took 10.5 weeks to get it. Have you reached out to Gobi directly or are you dealing with trail duty? It takes both a while to respond and you have to keep following up.
