Hey guys and gals this is my first write-up and I thought you guys might find this useful.
I am moving my Escort 8500 x50 to my 4Runner and I wanted to use a different solution than the regular suction cups. This should work for other radars with similar mounts I found there are few solution like the Blendmount and others but I couldn't justify the $90+ price tag. With this in mind this is what I came up with. I got the idea from this thread. Although I did not want to modify the original mount and have to drill a hole in the center so this is my solution.
This is not completely done. I am spray painting the screws, bolts and the hinge to black before mounting it all. Please excuse my poor craftsmanship. This is my first DIY and I am not super crafty.
So here are the parts I purchased.
Note: I decided to not going with the wing nut fasteners, but used normal nuts instead.
This is one side of the jewelry box hinge that i used. The holes lined up perfectly so I could mount it. It was kind of a waste because I only used that one piece of all 4. I am sure you can find something better but this is what I found worked best for me. I had to break those extra pieces off so it would be more "smooth" looking. I bent those two pieces back and forth until they broke off.
I put the bolts in the Escort mount then a nut to give that gap between the Escort mount and bike reflector. I did this so the mount wouldn't bend when I tighten the nuts and bolts. Then I attached the hinge to those bolts and the reflector to that hinge. The picture should explain it better than I can.
Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions but this should be pretty simple. I will post updated pictures once I get everything spray painted and mounted.

- (5) - 1/4" Nuts ($0.06 ea)
