Just ordered the roof rack delete kit for my 2020 TRD Pro. I need the extra clearance. I don’t need a rack at the moment and I don’t love the OEM black rails. Maybe I will get lucky and get a few hundred dollars for the TRD Pro rack. I doubt I will notice any MPG gains or wind noise reduction, but I know it can’t hurt to remove it. I’m assuming the delete kit works for the TRD Pro’s??

I ended up putting my rack on CL and said I would trade straight up for some black OEM rails. I had about 5 responses within a few days. Finally found one that wasn't a flake and we traded last weekend. Much happier with the stock rails and plan on buying some LFD crossbars and wind fairing soon.

Just got my 2020 TRDP and hate the rack. Trying to find a replacement somewhere more functional than the crossbar setup I had on my 13 Trail and more low profile than a basket type setup.
Then to figure out how to get it installed without leaking or any problems when I do find such a product.

Looks good, I’ll have to look into those LFD’s. How was the swap of the rack to rails? Not too difficult I’m guessing?

Just unbolt and then bolt back on the stock OEM rails. Listening to the popping the locktite made was a little disconcerting, but the stock bolts for the OEM rails went right back on with no issues. I've washed it 3 times since then with no leaks. Supposed to rain a lot in the next couple days so we will see what happens.

The only way I know for a sure seal with stock rails is buy new ends or have gaskets made. The new rail ends have the gasket fused to them and usally break up when removed.
I went from pro to stock, read where silicone is acidic and will harden and crack in time. I tired butyl as recommend and after a week pulled to look and it held moisture around the white tubes. Cleaned it up and used a marine urethene 3m4200. Checked it a week later and same crap. Had moisture stuck under it. Would it have ever leaked through? Not sure but my last try was permatex rubber sealer. Never had a chance to test as I ended up with another runner(long story)

Looking at my TRD Pro (2020) mine is different when taking it off. Looks like two hex screws holding it in. Gotta do some research and see what the deal is. Not sure if these kits apply.

Don't skip the silicone. had the dealer do the delete, they didn't use silicone and I've got water getting into the interior now.

I'm surprised the OEM delete kit doesn't come with any mastic patches. When I removed my rack for the first time the mastic got messed up so I ended up buying new mastic tape when I put it back on.

Replacement weather stripping
I have had the roof rack delete working for about 6 months. Somewhere along the line I have lost the weather stripping that runs along the top of the roof. Automatic carwashes are not our friend...
Anyone have the part number for the replacement strips? Many thanks
Disregard, found the part number... This is an issue though without the rack to put pressure on the strip, it may fly off on the wash...

Has anyone removed the plastic covers from the Delete kit? is there a right way to remove them? I did the Delete about two years ago and now I'm getting a leak, I did not use the silicone, so now I will remove the caps and redo the bolts with the tape and silicone. Any advice is appreciated

I'm rack free as well for now. I really like the smoothie look. When I bought mine used, it had a TMT rack on it that I removed due to rust (sold). I went and sized the bolts at the hardware store and bought some shorter ones. Siliconed them up and reinstalled. Sadly the previous owner removed the long black gutter covers completely so I can't hide my bolts.
