You've been seeing too much of those reality shows with Paris or Kim K. And the feeling of entitlement after achieving some goal in life is somehow now an act of being a douche bag....

IMO, a douche bag is based on how one acts. And if such is the case, then it is based on one's personality, NOT one's self worth nor on which car one buys.

I live in orange county, ca. One of the wealthiest counties in the united states. I've dealt with plenty of wealthy people. And im not just talking about how my interactions are with them so don't say its my problem on why they are the way they are. But im just leaving it at that. You have your views and and I have mine. Maybe it is that you are well off and feel offended.

Lets see...the guy suffers only 2 days out of a week...economy sucks...UNemployment is at all time high (almost 1 in 10!)...companies are filing bankruptcy left and right...benefits and salaries are being cut..................trust me, the dealer will NOT have a problem finding an immediate replacement for the original poster, possibly one at a lower salary (since he/she will be new to the company) and can do the same job without *****ing about the weekend crew....

Stay in school. Suck it up like a man. When he gets his education, then he can move onto something better in life. Again, this is like a bridge troll that he must deal with to get to the other "greener" side.

If this is a field that you enjoy, just stick with it and keep working. I was 30 years old with a Masters Degree before I finally got a job I love.....and I still have a bad day, occasionally.

Typically the worst are admins, because whomever they support is putting the pressure on them. Being in IT, admins especially the ones that support those higher on the corporate ladder walk around with bigger sticks [you can fill in this blank] and start childish behavior. But when you actually talk to the person they support, they are the most laid back and chill people you'll meet.

If you're school, stick it out for the income and start looking for something else. I've applied for a permanent position when I was contracting on a job I hated, but did it for the income and keep resume gaps to a minimum. I put in my notice after my second interview when I accepted another offer. Unfortunately with the economy, it's not our market now.

Either stick it out until you are done with school, or use the week days you have to find another job that pays better and has as flexible a schedule for you. I grew up in OC, and while I was always able to find work, I left a crappy job in 1993 (5 10/hr days on 40 hour/wk salary working for goon who wouldn't fix the AC) and moved to Vegas. I wouldn't say it was the wrong decision, but it wasn't necessarily the right one either. But much like now, the economy was in the hole and jobs were hard to get. Unless you have a job lined up, keep this one and accept that part of the job is dealing with pricks.

We are a small firm, so it's not as bad as some of the bigger ones, but still some people are a hassle. Our IT guys sometimes are short and rude to us. Especially the people who aren't computer savy.

COB, I say stick it out for now. Finding a job that works around your schedule is really tough during college. Also could you drop those two days and find something else? It sounds like you have two open days and those could be filled with a part time job somewhere more suitable to your skills. Or you could just wheel those two days. :thumb3:

In an effort to refrain from quoting 30 replies, I'm just going to generalize my reply.

I took a few days to reply on this thread so I could gauge your guys posts in a few different moods and see which made the most sense. I was flustered when typing it out, though it does still apply.

Yes, I do work for FJ, and it's a great dealership. I would never buy a car from the other dealers because you simply don't get the same type of treatment and benefits. That being said, the salesmen are nice to their customers regardless of financial placement, though will be especially accommodating for rich folk. Just common sense I guess, commission based pay. Salesmen are pitiful work monkeys at most any dealership, a living based of cheating.

So yes, while there are douche bag salesmen everywhere, you can imagine the social nutjobs and the jerks that would work at this dealership. A lot of older guys pretending to be younger, clubbing and following trendy fashion, and causing drama. I feel like I'm working with high school jocks and cheerleaders (well, because they were all jocks and cheerleaders in high school). I always felt that I fit in more with the semi-brainy types with a general consensus on obvious common sense... something that these salesmen seriously lack.

My ultimate decision is to stay with the company, solely through school. Once I get my first degree, I will be changing my job. I'll finally be able to crank out the mods I've been wanting to complete with more pay. (Shrockworks, PIAA's, 2.7 4WD wreck donor for swap, etc)

By the way, stories about similar work related experiences would be cool to post. I don't think I have the balls to walk out on a job without providing early notice and leaving with a clean slate.

There is no reason to put up with abuse. The company did not give a raise in 3 years. Dont know what the pay is but I hope it is well above minimum, if not you should have left 30 months ago unless you are a poor performer and I dont think that.

Time to think out of the box to get a different job. Deliver Pizza, I did that as a second job for over a year and made good money. Construction sites are always looking for flunkies to clean up junk. Flip burgers, there is work out there if you are assertive and creative.

I will not be convinced that there is any reason to be abused.

Unfortunately, all of which i wrote is true.... In fact, where i work (hospital), the benefits for staff was cut last year and salary has been frozen for at least the past year. All across Houston (Texas), the medical field (nursing, pharmacy, etc.) hiring has pretty much frozen for the past year.

I think some of you guys have a bit of an ego, it's not always about 'you'. That seems a bit selfish to me. "Oh my boss isn't nice to me...i'll show him, i'll quit!" Chances are if you have that attitude they will be glad to see you go.
Sometimes you have a family to support or you have to tough it out through a rough situation in the best interest of your future. If you are the kind of person who quits everytime someone yells at you or treats you unfair you aren't going to get very far in life. You will always be able to blame everyone else for your poor sorry life. Work harder and show them they are wrong. There is no substitute for hard work and going the extra mile.
What if COB quits and can't find another job. Then he can't pay for school and has to drop out. Oh yeah! That will show the douche bag salesmen. WTF?!?!?! COB isn't talking about making this a career. It's a means to an end. Sounds like you are doing the right thing and sacking it up until you get your degree. Good job.

If they're flexible with work, I'd stick it out. Maybe try to move positions. Parts dept or something. Either way just focus on the fact that this isn't a career job and it's just to get you through school.

Not system/IT administrators, but administrative/executive assistants. My current company the AA/EAs are pretty chill and laid back. The prior company I was contracting with the AA/EAs are a real PITA.

People come from all walks of life. Most of us are speaking of the majority and not the everyone in that profession as a whole.

To the OP, I say stick it out...

I work at a Toyota dealership in sales, and I go to school trying to finish my degree. I have had previous sales experience but this is my first time in the auto industry doing sales.

My 2nd week in I had been cut out of $1500 in 2 days from deals I had done due to the fact that I wasn't "certified" to sell new cars. Even though I had already previously sold 4 new cars without anyone saying anything. But as soon as I come across 2 deals that had good money in them, another floor manager went over my head and "told on me". So I had to split the deal. I almost quit the next day...

But I didn't, bottom line I'm going to stick it out, make some good money, and try and finish school. Even though I wouldn't trust any single person I work with, last week we almost had 2 guys break out in a fist fight (in front of customers), and I often work 13-14 hour days. It is seriously a horribly negative environment, with people that will smile in your face and stab you in your back.

Gotta love the car business....
