Do I need special tools to reboot my CVS axles?

Bought some new boots and want to rebuilt an axel. Do I need to buy the specialty tool or I'd their a diy to get this done?

Are you sure you want to remove, take apart and reinstall entire axle times two just to change boots? There are few tutorials on how to do this. No special tools needed.

I'm with <<<<< ... but I don't off road and am ok with aftermarket replacements. I understand some folks are OEM and nothing else, more power to ya.

You'll need a steel band clamp pliers if that's what you're using to seal the boots. Was looking at a cheap one at Harbor Freight the other day by chance.

If you need to remove the spindle nut from hub then you might need these along with a breaker bar or impact gun.

Instead of buying the special boot band tool, you can just get stainless hose clamps.

I have HF sockets too, but Sunex and Grey Pneumatic are the higher end value option. Far from tool truck prices...

Those two brands have some of the best "bang for the buck" sets on the market. Its actually competitive compared to HF prices...

Yep, but for how little I use the axle nut sockets (1x so far in 2 years), I couldn't get myself to spend more than HF price. And HF is down the street from me and I needed the socket right meow.

Some stuff, HF just won't cut it. Other stuff, I'm ok with HF.

Ya, id probably spend more in gas driving to HF then just buying a single socket off Amazon and having it shipped 2 days prime...
