Will this T4R be consudered total by the insurance adjuster?

Personally, I don't even think it's going to be close, too much damage.

Yup that is totaled, I seen Runner with less damage totaled.

BTW what kind of vehicle did you hit?

Tons of great info, thanks. These are the only other pics I had on my phone from the wreck. Certainly not good enough to write an estimate, but your opinion on if it will be totaled would be greatly appreciated!

The last pic is the 16yo kid's Ford Escape.

thanks for letting us see more pics. now that ive seen both frame rails i would say its totaled, the driver rail seems to be torn, previous posts have stated that toyota doesnt allow sectioning of there frames, and im sure they wont be replacing the frame. sorry for ur loss man, ur 4r was def a beauty.
 
It looks to be totaled. If it's not I wouldn't want it back. No matter who fixes it, it will never drive the same. That color of blue will be hard to match so the front will always stand out and remind you and possibly everyone else that it was wrecked. I've had one truck and one car almost totaled in separate accidents (but both by drunk drivers). Each one was repaired by different body shops. To the un-trained eye they both looked good. Driving them was a different story. Electrical issues, leaks, road wondered, and a whole list of other stuff. I ended up having to get rid of the car right away. Lost the truck to the ex. She had to get rid of it soon after because it had become a POS.

If they fix it, plan to get rid of it.

i hear people say (Blank) color is always tougher than others. BS. not true. modern techniques and skills make any color a no brainer. if it looks wrong, then you're giving your business to the wrong paint shop.

it's totaled. you don't want this back. you'll feel like sh!t driving it even if they say it's all good.

do your best to have it totaled.

All I grabbed out were the weathertech front/rear/and cargo bay molded mats, tow hitch, cargo net, and jack. At home I still have my new hid lights and a gibson exhaust (from a member here) that I haven't installed yet.
 
I'd say it's totaled, but...if they want to fix it, insist on perfection and don't accept anything less. I would even measure the alignment of the body panels down to the millimeter and hold the shop to it. Even a minor ding or scratch on one of the wheels should mean you get a brand new wheel, etc. etc.

Hopefully, your insurance co will allow you to choose the repair shop of your choice and not the one "they recommend" if it comes to that. Also, if they want to repair your truck, you should get a check for the depreciated value caused by the accident. It seems highly probable, they'd find more damage once they begin the tear down so if at first they don't total it, maybe additional damage would push it over the edge.

With as much as I so love my Runner, if I had similar damage, I would NOT want the truck repaired. It would never be or drive the same.

Ugh, sorry to see that man! Glad everyone is OK! I feel your pain; My other vehicle was wrecked on Monday (I slid turning right and hit a curb, weather was a factor). I probably won't know until next week, but my gut tells me my Civic is totaled too.

Dealing with wrecked vehicles SUCKS!!! :cry:
 
Heard from the Toyota dealer today. The estimate he provided to the insurance company has the damages at $21,621.19. Haven't heard back yet from State Farm regarding the settlement.

Wow, that's not good. That figure pretty spells doom. I'm sure you have it in your head that "it's over". Any plans on a replacement truck? Another 4Runner?:biggrin2:
