I had a friend who works at a body shop and he saw the pic and without missing a beat said it would be totaled;he's seen less damage get totaled.
He said the entire frontend forward of the firewall would likely need to be replaced and that's not counting possible damage done to the engine and tranny and other electronics under the hood.

I second this! LOVELY CAR... Though I am happy there were no serious injuries on your part... it was painful to see what happened!

don't forget the toyota dealer is writing worst case scenario. the ins co will write one thing and the dealer another.
its up to the ins co to total a vehicle not the shop. the dealer probably wrote for all OEM, possible anticipated damage etc....
i deal with 2 toyota dealers. i wrote a rear bumper cover at 1 shop for a 06 camry. the shop wrote for 1600.00 for a 250.00 OEM cover, my total was 625.00 and the car got fixed and the owner happy. the dealer will write for any little thing they can even if it is not necessary. this is the reasn why when i go over a car at a dealer, i go over the repair line by line. the dealer 98% of the time has "overwritten" the damage.

The 4Runner is now officially totaled. Other drivers insurance company is paying retail (not trade-in) value for the car and I'm picking up the check tomorrow. ~$27k, I'm pumped but seriously going to miss the T4R. It's been my favorite vehicle by a long shot.

I'm just glad to see you writing here honestly. Enjoy the 535i and good luck on the Taco!
Make sure they pay you sales tax also.....good luck, it took me 2 months to get a check from my insurance company!

Same thing happened to mine, they told me that if the frame was damaged (bent, twisted, etc) at all that they would total it. Lucky for me the only thing that wasn't broken was the frame. Sorry to see this.
