Front UCA's update

Our front UCA's have finally come off production and are on the water to us. After about a year of thorough testing in Australia on a Prado 150 and FJ Cruiser, our new front upper control arms will be here in about a month from now (1st or 2nd week of September).

Front UCA Set with Balljoints - UCA59-002K - Pair of replacement upper control arms to fix alignment issues with 2.5"+ lift heights. Uses OE type rubber bushes on the frame end, and a replaceable ball joint on the wheel side. These do not have any adjustment once installed, but they have corrected offset built into them to straighten up the wheels. HSLA Chromoly tubing, 36mm OD, 6mm thickness. These will fit 4th and 5th Gen 4Runners, as well as all FJ Cruisers and Prado 120/150, Lexus GX470 and GX460 models.

Waiting for the production models to arrive so that we can take HQ photos and share them with everyone.

Price for the kit is $550. Taking preorders now.

Great news! I haven't been on this site in a while and happened to pop in today, wondering if these are ready, yet!

Rear Coil Options, without KDSS.

C59-701V - Variable rate, 600+ LB heavy rear load weight, 3" lift, long travel. 500/500mm, 210-245LB variable. Designed for those with heavy full rear bumper, tire carrier, roof rack, RTT, drawers, and fridge. Rides very well with all that weight, as well as when loaded even further.

Anyone running these?

Wondering how they compare to the Icon Overlands/Heavies which I'm running now. Loaded down I only get about 1.5" of lift. Are the Dobinson's measured at 600# or unweighted to get the 3" lift number?

You have to have the 600LBS constant weight on them to get 3", otherwise they'd probably be at 5"+!!!

fargo4x4 is running them, as well as JSparky They were actually designed and made first for JSparky, since he was trying to set a world record for most constant weight in a 4Runner when going on trips!!!! Maybe he will post the before and after shots of sag vs impossible to sag anymore! haha

With less weight, you can run the 675V or 677V. Just pay attention to the weight ratings to that you don't over or under lift.

Take a look at this post by rochmpr here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/2725218-post250.html He is running the C59-677V rear coils.

would you recommend me going up to the 701v if I have exactly the same setup as rochmpr but I also am running full 35" terra grappler on a hutchinson dual beadlock (hanging about 50lbs more off my rear swing out than rochmpr)? I have an LE with a third row always in adding some weight too where his is TE. Other than that, we run the same rear bumper. I'll guess I am probably 50-100lbs heavier unloaded than his.

Lol yea that's me. If anyone wants pictures just tell me what you want. I'm laid up with a broken leg right now so pics will be limited to what I have on-hand. In short though I love the coils, smooth on road and handles the weight great. I'm having long travel shocks built when I get back on my feet to match the ride height and take advantage of the progressive nature.

Yes, sounds like the extra bump up in spring could be a good idea. You'll be somewhere around 3.5" of lift. I can't remember now about rochmpr and what all his needs were. It might have also been that he didn't want the rear to be too high. The added weight for trips is the biggest part of the deal. JSparky was running around town without too much, but he was adding a LOT of weight when going on trips, and that really loaded his old coils and the 677V's down, so we had to come up with a new coil.
JSparky, can you post the pics again of how it sits in the driveway empty, and then how it sits loaded down? I think you managed to get one trip in there before you kicked too much ass and broke your leg

Thanks. I'm usually around 600# unloaded without the tent and camping gear, close to 750# with RTT, gear, fridge etc. When I get a water setup it'll probably add another 50lbs to that. Just trying to get a little bit of lift back.

Looks like I'll try and see JSparky 's truck in person to decide

Hey Vic,
I'm at the same crossroads...trying to decide on the 677V's and the 701's. I put a set of the 675V's on after I added a 200lb TrekBoxX and before FJ Summit. It was ok...definitely sagged...totally my fault for under-estimating the weight with a loaded ARb 37qt fridge, stove, tools, gear, etc in the TrekBoxx. I even ran without a spare to try and lighten up a little. I am in line for the Pelfreybilt rear bumper with tire carrier and plan to run a full size spare (same as you, 305 Nitto Ridge's), and adding a hard shell RTT...so I'm leaning towards the 701's to get back closer to 3 in the rear.

I think you are probably running as much weight, or close to it, as Fargo4x4. I checked out his rig at FJSummit, and it looked good running the 701s.

Good idea. I think he still has the 677V take-offs as well, at least last time I checked.

But in person would give you the best look at it.

So I don't have a shot of it fully loaded, my brother needed my tent and my fridge broke so the last trip I took was with a cooler and a cot+awning combo. This is a good 250lbs lighter than my normal trip load but it hardly sagged.

My "unloaded" weight is the armor, two full fuel cans, and a minimally stocked fridge; with this the springs maintain a good forward rake which I prefer. Without the fuel cans and fridge the rear sits very high.

For reference, the GX in the background is on the same size tires (285/70/17) with OME mediums. He's got a small drawer system in back but otherwise minimal gear inside. Other shot is unloaded.

I do still have the 677V's if anyone wants to buy them off me for a fair price, they're sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Yeah bud, that's about right for the full meal deal. Oh, and the UCA's will be black, in case people are wondering.

Mike - Looking for a mild lift (~2" front) with a tad of factory rake.

What's the optimal set-up using Dobinson's components? If I went with 5100's, what settings would you recommend?

Thx!

You want to lift front and rear, or just the front?

For front and rear, C59-300 front for 1.75" of lift with the 5100's at the lowest setting, or clip 1 up for ~2" lift. And on the rear, C59-599 for 1" or C59-505 for 1.5". For a tad bit of rake, the 505 coils is what I'd suggest.
