Our Upper Control Arms have arrived. We've been super busy after having to close for a week due to Hurricane Irma, but we're back at it, and super excited to have some new 4Runner parts in the door. This is the first of a few new items, and I'll be showing some more next week.

Quick rundown:
-Adds 3 degrees of caster. It's fixed at 3 degrees, there is no adjustment
-Heavy wall steel tubing, HSLA Steel, 5mm (0.2") wall thickness
-Uses stock sized OE ball joint, comes with Japanese 555 Brand high quality BJ's hatsoff as part of the kit (you can't be stranded due to non-standard size)
-Black powdercoat
-OE size and style rubber bushings on frame end, allowing for maximum vibration resistance between the suspension and the frame, and also allowing for easy replacement with OE parts if desired (you can't be stranded due to non-standard size)
-Kit includes left and right arms with new bushings installed, separate ball joints (must be pressed in) and new large flat washers. Original mounting bolts must be reused or bought from the dealer.

Full kit price is $550 plus shipping.

Not gonna lie, seems pricey for that level of quality. The welds look meh, the bend in the arm has creases from the bender, also why OEM style bushings? injection molded bushings suck and they bind.

bottom right weld, looks like they ran outta gas and just said YOLO lets powder coat it anyways.

Not to mention that tube notch for the ball joint cup......they using angle grinders with cut off wheels to notch that tubing or what?

Welds are subjective, if it penetrates the look of the weld has nothing to do with it.
You want mandrel bent upper arms? Gonna cost a bit more, benders aren't cheap.
Why put poly bushing in a upper arm if you're not gonna put them in the lower? That's suspension building 101. Different durometer bushings don't mesh well.
Before you bash on a part, learn something.
Not defending dobinson here as I have a set on the way with the lift. If they're sub par they'll be going back in a heartbeat. But find another set of arms for the price that do the job. JBA and Camburg are your only options and they use old school Chevy Moog ball joints which aren't great for longevity.

i'd prefer to run heims in the uca with a uniball at the spindle, and delrin bushings in the LCA with a fat Moog Ball joint. Even if you're not switching out the LCA or the LCA bushings, theres really no reason NOT to upgrade bushings. less deflection, better fit, greasable etc.

you responded like i'm talking shit about your family, chill out, its a car part. and if i'm paying 550$ for a UCA it should have nice looking welding. DirtKing has tubular bushing UCA's for roughly the same price, not on their website.

i certainly wasn't bashing the part, i was posting my observations from the pictures he posted. just because I wasn't all OH MY GOD IT LOOKS AMAZING ITS A 4RUNNER HUURDURRR OVERLANDDDDDDD doesn't mean i'm being a d1ck (now i am though, thanks lol)

Binding and soaking up vibrations are totally different.
Poly bushings have way better movement then a injection molded bushing. Just because its negative feedback doesn't mean it's not allowed to be posted....or would you rather I start a whole new thread completely devoted to these UCA's?


why does everyone get bent outta shape when one person says something negative? It's like just because i posted obvious observations about the arms i'm a horrible person who is stealing sales from Mike. If i had not posted then all of a sudden no one would have the same thoughts as me? I'm not the only one, i may be the only one to post though. IIRC mods are ok having discussions about parts as long as we don't start making personal attacks. I have multiple posts talking about how much i like the dobinson rigs in this thread so no, i'm not just a troll.

I don't know anything about welding or UCAs, but my extreme layman's perspective is that these look sketchy compared to other available products. Maybe they're fine or better in some way, but without a lot of good marketing and/or product quality refinement these look like a tough sell.

I think there's a market for caster-corrected upper control arms utilizing factory joints and bushings, it's cause they won't squeak. I've had conversations with a number of people over the years regarding suspension on both jeep's and Toyota's and, for some guys who daily drive their trucks, they're really "squeak-averse". I think jba has some low-noise bushings but I'm not sure anything would match factory. I agree photos aren't the most flattering though, gloss black and hard lighting isn't helping. Curious to hear more about them.

Our upper and lower rear control arms on the other hand look perfect. I'm going to let ya'll cool off for a while before I show those to anyone though. :whip2:


After being closed for a week from the hurricane, then receiving 2 40FT containers within a few days of each other made last week the week from hell, plus all you guys that wanted assembled struts.... I've assembled 8 sets between Friday and today, plus everything else that had to happen, so I haven't made time for the forum much in the last week.
