Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Our Upper Control Arms have arrived. We've been super busy after having to close for a week due to Hurricane Irma, but we're back at it, and super excited to have some new 4Runner parts in the door. This is the first of a few new items, and I'll be showing some more next week.

Quick rundown:
-Adds 3 degrees of caster. It's fixed at 3 degrees, there is no adjustment
-Heavy wall steel tubing
-Uses stock sized OE ball joint, comes with Japanese 555 Brand high quality BJ's (:hatsoff:) as part of the kit (you can't be stranded due to non-standard size)
-Black powdercoat
-OE size and style rubber bushings on frame end, allowing for maximum vibration resistance between the suspension and the frame, and also allowing for easy replacement with OE parts if desired (you can't be stranded due to non-standard size)
-Kit includes left and right arms with new bushings installed, separate ball joints (must be pressed in) and new large flat washers. Original mounting bolts must be reused or bought from the dealer.

Full kit price is $550 plus shipping.

UGH .... I didn't need to read this.

The one thing that was keeping me from going higher than 2in on my lift was non-OEM spec UCA. While I do not make my living in the back country, its important to me to keep things as stock as possible. Using OEM bushings and ball joints is a big win for me. I'm very squeak, clunk and 'oh thats just my lift' adverse.

I don't claim to know what all happens when an alignment is done, but is there a concern with a fixed 3 degree caster?

Will the rest of the adjustments allow for the correct spec?

IIRC that fixed caster should be good because it offsets the extra caster needed for a lifted 4runner. I believe all aftermarket uppers have built in added caster. So yea its a good thing.

Yes, with the other adjustments from the lower control arm cams, the alignment tech will be able to get it set properly without any worries. The only issue would probably be if someone tried to run them with zero lift height.

Hey Mike, looking for a 2.5/1.5 lift for a 2010 Trail with KDSS.

Interested in the front coils:
C59-726 - 100-220LBS heavy load front weight, 2" lift. 385/380mm, 18mm wire, 730LB

I like the idea of running heavy rate coils to improve road handling.

A couple questions:
1.) What would the lift height be with 726 coils and stock front end load?
2.) Have you received any feedback on the ride quality of 726 coils on 5100's? Again, with stock front end load.

No one has run them on 5100s to my knowledge.

Without the weight, probably 2.5 to 2.75" of lift.

We have a guy that is running some 730lb coils on a 4runner with a bunper and he loves them. I'd like to test a set on my truck but I don't know when I'd have the time to do that.

730lb rate springs with no front weight would definitely stiffen things up!! If you wanna be the guinea pig on these, I'm sure the other boys will chime in with some peer pressure and encouragement. Hahaha

Looks so sweet! Mine is being put together now--I can't wait!! What did you go with? Did you replace the UCIs?

You are spot on about Mike. He took time to answer all my questions and help customize my order.

Just finished installing the lift. Now off to get an alignment.

I didn't replace the UCAs. The alignment didn't change and no adjustments were needed.

Looks great! :thumb:

Now I know what it would look like on my truck right down to the Sliders, aluminum skid and everything, minus the 3rd row. Did you go with the 700 struts, 701 rear shocks, 300 front springs and 325 rears or do you have kdss?
