Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

All parts are in - getting closer. Aiming to get everything installed this weekend.

A couple of notes regarding the parts.

- The upper control arms are crazy stout.
- The overall build quality is quite impressive.
- Love the fact you can select your preferred spring color. (I went with black...)
- The mounting points on the shock arms are beefy
- I actually like the rubber bushings. My truck is not a trophy racing truck. Spherical bushings tend to be harsh. (Specifically for racing and 'feel' for the surface you are racing on). I am looking forward to see how the suspension performs. My gut tells me - the suspension will be even more 'forgiving' on rough surfaces.

Hope this helps others. So far - I am quite pleased with my decision to give these a try.

Still working on it. First will be the 1" lift over Pro height. Those are being tested right now and everything looks to be good with them.

Next we will set up for a 2" lifted coil, but we expect people will need UCA's to run them, as it's 3" over a stock non-TRD coil. I still don't know how people are putting on the Toytec spacer lift with 2" of lift and not running UCA's.

Any update would be appreciated. Also, not sure if you meant non Pros, but the Pros come with UCAs

If I go with 2.5" front and 1.5" in the rear,
what if any other parts will I need?

Nothing else is "required" with that setup. It's on the verge of wanting new front UCA's at 2.5" front lift to get more caster, but the majority of people running that height also run the stock UCA'.s

Current setup:
2014 Limited with 3rd row, daily driver, 90-95% on road, east coast trail rides, no desert runs or rock crawling
OEM XREAS with 3”/2” spacer lift & diff drop kit
285/70/17 tires
Pelfreybilt aluminum front bumper (probably +40lb net over OEM bumper components)
Second battery, +25lb
(4) Aluminum skids, +50-60lb (complete guess)
Roof rack, +90lb
Sliders, +90lb

What are your complete system recommendations for same amount lift & similar ride quality if I dump the XREAS system? I would plan on getting aftermarket UCA’s.

Thanks for your input!

Just ordered my setup today can't wait to get it in and installed. Will post pictures of before and after once I am done.

Thanks again @Dobinsons_Mike for all of your help and time.

On the front:
GS59-574 with C59-302 for 3" lift with the extra weight. Then add UCA's and keep your diff drop kit.

On the rear, C59-325 with GS59-701 for 2" lift with the extra weight.

You'll gain a much better ride with new longer coils and shocks than using the spacer lift that you're currently using, as it really won't compare.

2.5 rear springs

Hi looking to swap out my Toytec 2.0 for a 2.5” spring (red or black please)I’m running mostly stock weight 3rd row SR5 with the exception of some camping trips either with a light trailer or a swing out box. Which spring would you recommend and do you offset the height to compensate for the gas tank drivers side lean most US 4Runners get when lifted?

Finally, after the parts have been sitting in the garage for six months. Bilsteins set at zero. 302 and 505 coils. No pre or post measurements taken. Going to stuff some 285 KO2s with bronze FN Pro wheels.

Excited to get my new rear springs. Mike was great to deal with and very informative and helpful. Went with their heavy c59-331 springs. Need some additional support for everything hanging off the rear bumper swing out.
Thanks for the great service.

Those look so f-in sweet! Can you please post part numbers of those shocks and also pics of how you mounted the reservoirs. Thanks
I can’t wait much longer to order my lift.

That color combo of truck, wheels and tires looks so damn good!!!

Just looking for rear springs? The first post in this thread lists all the options, and the offset height options too.

I want my 4Runner to last and drive great.
If I need more parts to accomplish that, I don't mind.

Ok....got everything installed. It was not even remotely close to being a straight forward, bolt-in project.

There was some fabrication and quite a bit of assembly.

To those considering the MRR coilovers. They do not come assembled and require you to reuse the top spring hats.

Also - most of the traditional spring compressors available in the US will not work with these springs. The coils are so tight that you will not be able to get the compressors out once installed on the coilover. I had to purchase a level based, single action compressor and modify it (grinding off some of the tabs) to make it work.

Regarding the upper control arms - they are VERY stout. I am quite happy with these. But be warned - you will need to gently sand (or dremel) off the powder coat inside where the ball joint will be pressed in. Once the powder coat is off, the ball joint will press in smoothly.

Mike is very easy to deal with and was a great help to get me the info needed for assembly.

My only feedback - the set up is very smooth and compliant. Once I get the alignment done, I will give some more info.

Feedback for Dobinsons:

You will sell more product if you offer them assembled with new spring hats in place. In addition, better, more model specific instructions would be huge.

So far...Loving the set.
