Why are the kdss springs at a higher spring rate than the non kdss ones. Is it better to go with the non kdss versions for stock weight?

The front kdss coils are for a heavier front end (730LB rate) or for those wanting zero nose dive and tighter cornering. Yes, choose the appropriate front coil then a kdss rear coil to offset for the lift.

I’m 99% sure I’m going with some sort of Dobbins kit. I see your coming out with a coil for the pro suspension, and I can wait for that (I’m planning on doing a lift in the fall). So for overall best ride, should I get the pro springs when they come out, and source the pro kit? Or is it not worth the extra $$$?

Depends how much of a Bilstein fan you are, I guess. I wouldn't think it would be worth that extra money though.

Well, I’ve had 5100’s on my Tacoma for over 100k miles and they’re still in good shape. That hardly classifies me as a fan boy, but what I’ve read, a bigger shock seems to have more benefits over a smaller one, which is why I would consider the Bilstein 6112.

I’m still figuring this all out, so if you can provide more insite on why one is better, by comparing how they’re each built, the specific valving each has, and how that translates to real world comparisons, that would be much appreciated.

Lots of info here, spread out over several pages. I have a question, that I’m hoping can get answered.

I just traded my ‘13 SR5 listed in my signature and picked up a 2015 Pro. I forgot what the stock suspension felt like and I’d like to keep that feel until I figure out what bumper option I’m going to go with for my winch, line up some skids & sliders. Eventually I’ll get a lift that provides similar lift as my SR5 has, but I may step up from 5100’s and springs.

What springs could I go with to somewhat level out the front, using the stock Pro struts? Are the 1” springs no more? What’s the ideal amount to raise the front, keep stock feel, and not over-extend the stock Pro struts?

Really? It sounds like I'm doing my own research by asking him questions on the product he sells, and why it would be best to go with it over a Bilstein, since it was his stance that it was a better product for the money in the first place.

I've read a lot of "its great" "rides nice", etc... but haven't seen a lot of in depth comparisons with these shocks, like there are with others.

A little positive mojo for Dobinsons. Just came back from 140 miles on the Kokopelli trail from Loma, CO to Moab, UT. I have the Dobinson MRR remote reservoir coilovers, shocks and matching springs. The Dob's performed exquisitely on the trail. Soaking up everything from sand, moguls, rock, heavy rock walls, steps and then road home. A total of 4K miles.

The 4runner performed fantastic. Took everything in stride and essentially making me look like an off road super hero.

Big kudos to Dobinson.

I’m looking for more of a comparison like in this video. He does a great job of showing why King’s are better than the competition. I know I don’t need anything that crazy, but I’d like to see how much better a Dobinson shock is than say a Monroe, or how it compares to a Bilstein. I think it’s a fair question to ask.

Those springs won’t work with the 6112’s, because the 6112’s are larger in diameter.
