Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Received our order from Dobinsons yesterday afternoon and wasted no time getting it installed this morning. Thanks to a buddy for help with the install. Took us 3hrs start to finish. We went with 302/700 and 505/705.

OK cool i havent been annoying you lol....just really thinking about it. So here goes...
The C59-302's with the GS59-574's for 3.5in...those work for KDSS correct and are they a set 3.5 or if need be are they adjustable lower? Also how much for those with the KDSS lean correct assembled and shipped to me 25413. If its easier you can PM me a price.

Thanks in advance and sorry for being a pain lol

I wouldn't suggest 3.5" front lift with KDSS. The fixed bracket on the passenger side would most likely cause a lean at that lift height since it's holding the sway bar solid.

Our twin tube struts are not adjustable, so you have to select the correct coils to match the weight on the truck and get the lift height you want.

The fronts are the same left and right with that combo, so you would offset the KDSS lean by using offset height rear coils.

what spring do you have the compares to the Toytec superflex 2 inch in terms of height?

Also, what is the spring rate? I find that the spring rate of the Toytec spring causes the back end of my truck to feel to jumpy and bumpy as I do not have any additional weight back there.

I'm looking to find something a little softer....

I installed 6112s in the front and used 1.6” setting. I put red 599s in the rear. They are beautiful I wish I could show em off but they’re hidden. So far they haven’t settled after 800 miles and 2 weeks but they have softened up or broken in a little. My rear currently sits at 1.75” and not the expected 1-1.25”. I’m hoping they settle at some point. If not I’m probably gonna reset the fronts at 2”. Otherwise I’m loving em they’re sporty stiff but not rough. If I hadn’t gotten 6112s I would have gone with a full Dobinsons setup with red coils all the way around

Looks good. I cant tell from the pic do you have any rake with the 505s in the back?
More importantly hows the ride?

I see it's been a bit since Dobsnsons has been equipping 4runners in North America with shock set up's, can anyone speak to how they handle the cold, salt, gravel, and garbage weather we deal with up in the more Northern climates?:fishing:

Hey man, I just measured. There was/is a bit of rake still, but I think the rear should settle some - that's what I've heard on this thread anyways. Front is sitting at 36.5" and rear is 39" ground to fender. I probably should have done hub to fender measure, but didn't. We're running 275 KO2's.

We think the ride is significantly better than stock tbh. It feels great on the road/highway. We haven't taken it off-road any yet, but I suspect it'll be great.

Also, the picture you quoted was the 'before' picture. The last picture in the set is the after shot.

I changed the quote post. No worries on the measurements.

Your truck came out great, Dobinsons is what I am going to go with. I'm honestly amazed how awesome 275s looked with your wider wheels. 285s seem like where guys are having rubbing on the BM and cutting metal just isn't for me right now. It looks like a wider wheel plants the tires just where they need to be for a 2.5'' lift.

Honestly I was leaning towards rebuildable shocks and uniball but after I read about the added maintenance. I'm going Dobinsons, JBA UCAs,and FN six shooter wheels. Now the big gamble is how close we are to the holiday deals. JBA dosn't go on sale and im not sure on Dobinsons or FN.

Thanks man! We're digging it. With the 275s on those SCS wheels we did have some rub. Removed mudflaps and trimmed front bumper. Also had some slight body rub at full lock. The lift resolved that though. I like the stance and look of the wheel and tire combo. Especially now with the lift. No regrets.

Yep, I was eyeing those JBAs when we were discussing going to 3" lift instead of 2.5". Those JBAs would have been my pick after a lot of research. I'm not crazy about everything needing to be matchy matchy, but the red JBAs did kinda throw me off. I inquired about getting them raw and coating them myself, but they no longer offer that. Just wasn't sure how the red would go alongside the Dobinson teal and yellow combo. Once I get the alignment done I'll go from there and may need to revisit that a bit.

Dobinsons did offer a 10% off labor day sale. Maybe they'll throw something out for black friday or whatever.

The red, yellow, & teal combination doesn't bother me at all :dancin:

The C59-701V still work great. Believe it or not, I kind of wish they had an even higher capacity, but the do flex great.

Thanks for the help selecting my lift components, Mike! Installed this myself in about 4 hours and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Sitting a little high right now because I had to take the RTT off to fit in the garage.

For those looking for pictures of a particular setup, here is mine.
GS59-700 Front Strut
C59-302 Front Spring (light)

GS59-701 Rear Shock
C59-325 Rear Spring (medium)

Rides much better than stock. Braking dive is less pronounced and the suspension does not get overwhelmed by rapid bumps like the stock suspension did.

FYI: Had the dealer align the truck after install. With stock UCAs, they were able to hit the acceptable range for Caster, but they were on the edge of it. Any higher than this and UCAs would be necessary.

Good to know about the alignment, I've had many guys say the same thing, and recently more and more guys with 2.5" front lift are adding UCA's just to get a big more alignment and ease up the strain on the upper ball joint in the factory arms.

Thanks for the photos and the feedback!!
