Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Mike,

How would you say the MRA kit compares to the ToyTec Boss 2.5 lift kit?

Thanks,
That's hard to compare as they're a different product, and since I don't sell Toytec and haven't ridden in many vehicles with their products on them, I can't give you a seat-of-the-pants comparison. Just looking at their website though, here are some comparisons.

Not sure if they've switch over to the Aluma series only - but those are all aluminum, and MRA's are steel bodies.

Standard 2.0 Boss suspension is threaded steel bodies like the MRA's.

They're stated as 200PSI charge from the factory, the MRA's are 150, and can run a lighter pressure, or up to 200PSI.

MRA's have height adjustment and 3 levels of valving adjustment (compression and rebound), it doesn't look like the BOSS have any adjustment other than height.j

MRA's have a reservoir.

Can't tell from the photos if theirs use a rubber coil isolator at the top (I'm sure they do), and so do the MRA's to reduce NVH.

I don't see the piston and bore size listed, but I assume it's about 50mm for the 2.0" Boss series, similar to the MRA's.

The lower legs on the MRA's are more than 2x thicker than the regular Dobinsons twin tube struts, and the 2.0" Boss fronts.

I haven't had time to make the threads yet, but I'd say the Dobinsons IMS and Boss 2.0 are a closer comparison to make.

Alright I’m trying to figure out why my truck is still sitting with a noticeable rake after dropping the rear to a 1” spring.

C59-302 up front should have me at 2.5” I’m not convinced I have 2.5” up front at all tho.

C59-599 in the rear should be around 1” which seems right.

Seems like my front is more of a 1.5-2” lift.

What gives?

I'll have to get those later today. That was my next step to confirm.
just for comparison, I'm at 22.5 front and 24.25 (L) / 24.5 (R) rear. Slightly different set up than yours but should be a good reference. My Dob's 505's went up 2.25 in the rear, was expecting 1.75-2.

Hmmm that doesnt look like 2.5. I have the 300s in the front and they seem to be taller than that. Definitely get those fender to hub measurements

I’m at about 20” on the passenger and about 21” drivers side. Looks like I have a 1 inch spring if that.

I was sent the wrong coil with the right packaging.

Stoked. Love ripping my truck apart 3 times in a row. Literally the best.

Bummer! But the bright side is than more times you do it, the faster you get at it.

Here's a pic of the wheel gap for my 2.5" lift in the front for comparison, if it helps.

Pretty noticeable difference. 1” spacer lifts I’ve parked next to seem to have more fender gap.

Just to update... they don’t know what’s up with the coils. They are sending me a new set with a return label for the old ones. They are NOT refunding me for the second set of coils I bought to try and fix the rake (despite milkeypoo recommending it). They offered a refund if I mail it back at my own expense. I asked about just getting a refund for the kit, because I don’t want to swap the coils, and have the same problem a 3rd time. They said they can’t because, “it’s a warranty issue“. Part of me at this point wants to go with Eibach.

723's are 405 and 420mm free height
599's are 390/390mm free height

So going to those would drop it about 1/2" to 1" (since the 723's are offset), depending how the KDSS is handling the lift.

So you'd have to ask yourself if 1" lower than where it is now is enough of a drop to have it sit where you want.

Yeah, for 2.5" front lift, and lifting the rear some, the 599's are what I always suggest for closest to level while still adding some lift.

I've seen guys report 599's giving 3/4", 1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75". I'm convinced it's differences in how they use tape measures, but who knows.... Consistently it's 1" to 1.25" on a stock 5th Gen rear with 599's.

Gotcha thanks for answering the questions.

Wondering if the front springs I got where mislabeled from the factory.

I'll have to get those later today. That was my next step to confirm.

You going to just keep ignoring this? You sold me those 599’s.
I'm not ignoring. I've read each of your posts, then your edited versions of each after you removed the bad language each time.

I've quoted my posts above where I gave info on the rear coils. It seems that you didn't have baseline measurements of your vehicle to start with regarding lowering the rear. I gave specs of approximately how much lower it will go with the 599s so that you could decide if it was worth the cost and work to change them out. You installed the 599s (which you did not buy from my site) and you posted how much better it was in a follow up post.

Fast forward a few weeks and you're having front issues. I passed that info on to David at Dobinsons to give him a heads up about a possible warranty on those and he has been taking care of it since. You have posted up the summary of that situation also.

Of the 100s on guys running 302 front coils with stock weight, you're the only one to have this issue which is why it's being followed up with as a warranty.

I got screenshots of everything myself.

At the end of the day you guys sold me a lift kit with a defective coil. I thought at first the rake was just my coil choice. But, then I started having issues getting my truck aligned (which costs money btw). I came to you (an employee of Dobinsons). I don’t blame you for not catching the issue, but the fact is you didn’t catch it either. You sold me on another $220 worth of coils which only served to highlight your busted ass front coils. Now you guys expect me to pay more money to get a refund (which I assume will not include original shipping).

So alignments $$$
Wear on my $1200 tires because I can’t get a proper alignment.
My labor (back and knees are ****ed so good times)
My time $$$
$220 in coils

You guys made half of it right. Now send me damn return label and stop being cheap.

I'm a ****ing retard. Mike is Exit Offroad.

That's a bummer Mutant :(

I don't see why they're treating it as a warranty request if the part was mislabeled to begin with. Hopefully they'll make it right for you in the end.
