Has anyone gone from the linear C59-329 to the variable C59-677V or 701V? Curious to hear how the ride quality changed and if you liked it better/worse.

Kind of want the 677V for the articulation, but I'm a little worried its gonna ride too mushy given the much softer spring rates.

How are you liking the ride so far? I am looking soft controlled on road manners. Pa has some awful rippled paved roads.

Sorry, haven’t been on this forum for a bit. Ride is assume, no complaints and wish I would have started with this setup.

I have done highway miles and also backcountry roads and it handles both flawlessly

Hi crikeymike, On 5th gen I am deciding between two of the rear coils with 5100’s currently in the back on 2” icon lift springs that I need to upgrade due to additional weight.

I was going between the heavy (200-400) and the next one up (600-800). Rear bumper is about 200 plus fuel and other stuff 260ish on the bumper. Inside the cargo could be another 150 so that is abo it 400.

In addition to that I have rack, RTT at 170, and sliders however I’m not sure how they weight gets considered into this rear weight listed here?

My guy would be to for the heavier however if I get too much over the 2” lift I believe the 5100’s could be an issue? I’m sure Dobinsons has a strut to fix that as well :). Thanks for the help.

You'll need the C59-329's. The 327's wouldn't cut it with all the weight you've got on there.

Dobinsons C59-329 Rear Coil Springs for Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser

Currently in stock in black or red only.

this should give you an idea of a midweight unloaded 4runner to heavy loaded 4runner should look like:

Kings 700lb in thé front w/ no preload resulted in a 3 inch lift.
Dobinsons c59-329 in the rear gave me 4 inches in the rear, so i have a 1 inch rake.

Weight is as follows in pic:
SSO steel slimline bumper w/ winch
RCI aluminum front skid
RCI aluminum transmission skid
RCI aluminum transfer case skid
RCI aluminum gas tank skid
RCI steel rear link skid
RCI steel diff skid
RCI steel rear shock skid
White knuckle offroad sliders (steel)
Robinson's rear drawers
Rago: molle panels (steel)
Prinsu roof rack. (aluminum)
c4 ladder (aluminum/steel)
arb awning.
1 group 31 house battery.

It should level out with my camping gear (not pictured/not in vehicle at time picture taken):

2 jerry cans
1 fridge
full recovery gear/winch gear
hilift w/ accessories
2 chairs
1 table
1 axe/1 shovel
1 rotopax
1 tent
1 cot
1 sleeping bag/pillow
1 case of dry goods

cheers!!!

Can you post your hub to fender measurements? 3" front lift and 4" rear lift would leave you with 3" of rake over stock 20/22" baseline. It doesn't look like that in the photo.

Math is wrong, I guess what I was trying to say there is a 1 inch difference between front and rear.

I just installed the c59-599 that mike sent out and it seems like they are more then 1.25 inch of lift, more like 2.125 inches of lift. everything looks seated properly. I’ve driven about 170 miles on them now, how long will it take for them to settle? Would they settle that much? does anybody know the measurement from ground to fender with the 599 (with KDSS if that matters?
My measurement from ground to fender
Stock-
Driver rear 37
Passenger rear 36 1/2
After fox 2.5 dsc 0-1.5 inch lift and dobinson 599 “1.25” inch lift coils
Driver rear 39 1/8
Passenger rear 38 5/8
Any ideas? I’m worried it won’t settle and that I feel that is bad for my shocks because they are only supposed to go to max lift of 1.5 not 2.125

We use hub to fender to measure vehicles. It should be 23" to 23.25" once settled, 500 miles usually.

It looks like it’s right at 24” right now on both rears from fender to the center of the hubcap. They have been on 1 week with 250 miles so far. Should they drop another .75-1inch?

Hey Mike! Just checking on my order (#7811), it's the C59-302's (teal) that are still backordered, any update on when those will be in stock?

OK so just real quick, because I haven't had it back long enough to get offroad or drive much, but the IMS system is badass!

I'd spoken to Crikeymike to help me come up with a system to fit my desires. He delivered and then some. The 302/574F and 327/701R setup he recommended is very smooth riding on the road, even when some of the roads are pretty bad (normal for out in the country in South Louisiana). Even with the 285/70 C load at 40psi (vs stock 265/70 SL at 30psi), it rides smoother and more controlled than my stock ORP suspension. Then add to that, he upgraded my UCA's at no extra charge because he wasn't sure when the Dobinsons UCAs would be in... you can't ask for better customer service anywhere.

Hoping to get it offroad and check it out (including measurements and just the slightest bit of trimming) in the next few days, before having to go back to work. This is just a quick pic I shot after getting it back home.
