Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Can't say enough good things about Mike and his shop Exit Offroad. He patiently answered my questions over the phone that I'm certain he's heard a million times and then BOOM in less than 1 week I have my new MRA suspension setup.

Thanks again!

I need to replace the springs in the rear of my 4runner since I tow a lot and get tons of sag with the factory springs.
I’m currently running 5100 set at 2.5 in the front and 5100 with a 1.5” spacer in the rear. I’m sitting extremely level so any weight in the trunk puts me at a negative rake. I’m sure that rear coil has compressed over the years. I would like a coil for the rear with a stronger spring rate than factory in the 1.5-2” to give me a little bit of the rake back. I tow a camper and a boat very often with a tongue weight around 300lbs but when I’m not towing I keep about 100lb-150lbs in the trunk and I have a Gobi rack so not a ton of weight. What springs do you recommend and what is the spring rate of those? Also would you recommend to put airbags also in those springs.

The C59-325's will be fine for you I think. They're 220LB rate. I don't think you'll need airbags in them as the tongue weight isn't too bad, but I'd suggest installing the springs, see if that does everything you need, then you can always add bags into them later if you need additional support.

Just finished installing my Dobinsons full suspension. @%1; answered all my questions and got me set up with exactly what I needed. Advice for anyone that thinks they don't need the new top hats on the fronts or the assembly by Exit Offroad, just get them to assemble the fronts for you. It'll save you so much time. I did not do that and wish I would have. I can't feel the potholes in my spine anymore like I could with Xreas so I am very pleased with the set up. Many thanks to Mike!

Any idea on when the next batch of UCA's will be coming in?

Dobinsonusa on Instagram said mid April over the weekend in a reply. But probably throwing wet spaghetti at the wall guessing lol. Just got my shocks and springs in from November sale last week, and they will be laying in the garage till I can get a set or different brand ones which I'd prefer not to go that route. Mikes website says he will update whenever he knows for sure.

Yeah, that's not accurate info they're giving out, because there's no ship on the way with them in any container as of yet. We get at least 6 weeks notice when anything is on the way over, so that's what I'm waiting on to be able to give an ETA.

There are also hundreds of sets already on backorder, so until those are all completed and shipped out, and there's going to be some left in stock, that's when I'll start taking orders on the website for them again.

With that said, if you really want to put a set on backorder, I can manually do that for you, but the wait time is unknown, and you know you're going to email me 5-35 times asking for updates, and that's super time consuming when we have no info!!

As of right now, the Dirt King UCA's are in stock!! They haven't been in stock since before March last year. Dirt King Tubular Ball Joint UCA's - FJ Cruiser, 4Runner, GX470, GX460

They're the closest option that I offer to the Dobinsons.

Right now I have 5100s set to 2.5" and 1.5" rear spacers. Would it be a noticeable difference if I put the 5100s on the 0" notch, took out the rear spacers and went to a 314/325 combo?

Hi Mike, I’m currently running an Icon Stage 1 setup and need advice on which rear springs to upgrade to. I daily drive my 4Runner Limited with metal tech sliders, Rhino Rack Pioneer w/ backbone (which depending on the trip may carry snowboards, cargo box, shovel, & recovery tracks) 285/75/17 spare tire on a 25 lb Wheel, and am waiting on Rig’d Tire Carrier that I just ordered which will also carry 2 mountain bikes a few times a year. I need help choosing between going with either 329, 677v, or 701v and the goal is to ride comfortably as a daily driver and to make sure it can properly handle the weight of my current build.

Thanks

I went with 2.5/1.5 C59-302/GS59-700 front and C59-505/GS59-701 rear. The fronts gave me exactly 2.5in and the rear ended up giving me 2 inches. Wish I would've known the rear would give me more because I would've went with 3 in front for levelish lift. Not really a fan of the way it looks.

Honestly I think it looks fine. I prefer stock/factory rake anyways. Once you load stuff down you'll be happy you had some rake so that you're not ass down. Before you swap out springs I'd let it settle a little. I thought my rear was way too high in the beginning but it settled a bit and the rear came down just a smidge. Plus when I'm fully loaded there is still some rake and I'm fully supported in the rear without bottoming out. Give it some time and then reassess.

Weight added to the rear will of course cause squat, and the more you add, the lower it will go. With 200lbs constant load in the rear daily, you'd use C59-327 coils for ~2.25-2.5" of lift. And IMS59-50701 shocks

Up front, you can use the C59-314 coils on IMS59-50574 struts set to the lower/standard coil seat height for 3" of front lift.

Got my fedexAdd UCA's, diff drop kit, and rear sway bar links, and you're all set.

Got my ship confirmation and set to deliver Monday. Can't wait to get em and install this weekend. Standby for pics

Definitely. New longer coils with a better spring rate will ride better than preloaded stock fronts and just spacers on the rears.

314's up front will be 3" though with no front weight.

Hey man. If you want 3" of rear lift with all that weight, the 677V is what I'd suggest for the nicest ride, best flex, and lift height. Dobinsons C59-677V Rear Variable Rate Long Travel Coil Springs

Mike,

Looking for something that'll give me a minor lift while staying leveled and not killing my ride on pavement. Will this setup achieve what i'm looking for?:

C59-302R- COIL SPRINGS
GS59-700- GAS STRUT
C59-505R- COIL SPRINGS
GS59-705- SHOCK ABSORBER

I'll eventually add a C4 front and rear bumper but it won't be for awhile so I assume at that point I could just swap the rear springs to handle the additional load and keep the front springs since they're rated for an additional 150lbs? Also, since your UCAs are out of stock with no ETA do you foresee any alignment issues with the factory UCAs on this setup? Thanks!

Yeah man, that's the most common setup sold for 2.5" front and 1.5" rear. Yeah, you can always change out springs later if needed.

You can get an OK alignment with factory UCA's, but you would get a better ride and alignment and better articulation with aftermarket UCA's. I also sell Dirt King which are very comparable to Dobinsons, and SPC's as well.

Much appreciated! What's the turnaround time on a lift kit once ordered? :)
