Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Finally posting having installed last month. Love how it drives compared to my previous setup (6112/5160). Should have gone this route out the gate.

- Dobinsons IMS Front Struts & Rear Shocks
- Dobinsons C59-300/C59-599 Springs
- SPC UCA

Didn't take any pre/post measurements unfortunately.

Thanks Mike for talking me through the options and providing good instructions on how to do this myself. The KDSS steps you provided actually helped get rid of lean that I had my previous 6112/5160 setup.

This is the exact set up I am looking at doing. You still happy with the ride quality? Also, did you need to do a CMC to fit that SCS wheel w/ the 285? Looking at running the same specs there as well.

How's the ride comfort for you? I'm about to pull the trigger on the same springs with the MRA shocks.

Does the rear sag a bunch when you're loaded down? Still debating between the C59-327 coils or the 329.

Ride is great. Got a lot of weight up front and the rear is a fart high. Should be perfect once my rear bar goes on.

Drawers n stuff in it currently is about #250lb.

Zero sag loaded up.

I was worried the 354 springs might have been too tall but looks like yours is just right. Did you have to decrease preload at all or are you just running a bigger tire than 285?

Fronts are set how Mike sent em.

285’s both the firestones on the steelies and the toyos on my methods. Firestone / steelie combo is for trail weekends and the Toyos are my daily.

I'm looking to do 3/2 but I'd like some adjustability in case I add/remove something or I don't like the stance. Would the IMS be better in that regard?

OK, no problem. The IMS struts would be best then, so you can change the height. IMS59-50574 up front with C59-314 would get you 3", and you can adjust up as needed to regain lost height when weight is added.

C59-325 would be 2" in the back with stock weight.

Strut caps - you can reuse your originals, or buy new and preassemble the new coilovers before the installation.
Sway bar drop is a good idea up front
Rear sway bar links should be added
Diff drop kit and UCA's will need to be added with the extended travel front struts.

No other spacers or parts are required.

I like my stock sized tires with my Dobinson’s lift.

- Cheaper,
- lighter,
- in-stock @ most tire shops(already had to replace one after getting shanked by huge piece of metal right before Moab trip)
- My OEM spare (stock location) would work in a pinch, allowing me to carry two spares if i get a 2nd swingaway carrier on my Victory4x4 bumper.
- Hasn’t held me back so far on offroad trips we’ve taken.
- More room in wheelwell for 100% tuck during flexing.

Looks? Don’t really care, nor do i care what others think.

What spring and strut combination do you have installed? I'm also thinking of staying with stock size tires. Thanks in advance.

Not specifically, as I don't save tire size information. But with a 10" width, there's a chance it might clear the body mount ok with the stock offset. Bringing the tire forward with the alignment should help get it close, but there's always too many variances in tire brand, tread and type to say one size will or won't fit.

You'll also want to check the tire width to the UCA's to make sure it doesn't get too close there as well. Measure what you've got now and take your best guesstimate to the newer tire width to see how much difference there will be.

lifting doesnt change tire clearance (unless you add a bump stop spacer and limit up travel). it just means it wont rub at ride height but might still rub at full bump. that size fits fine with stock wheels btw, might need to massage the fender liner and mud flap.

Front Coil: C59-302
Front Shock: GS59-700

Rear Coil:C59-329
Rear Shock: GS59-701

I'll be doing the ECGS to get rid of the needle bearings; recommendations on sway bar drop kits and any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

What sort of added weight do you have on it? Front and rear.

Those rear coils are for a really heavy load, and those fronts are 2.5" with stock weight.

Rear will have a camper with a GVWR of 4800 lb's and the front is currently stock weight but will be adding a winch and bumper in the near future.

OK. If you'll be towing the camper often, then those will work well. It's when you're unloaded that it's going to be quite firm when there's no weight on the rear end.

The front coils will be correct, as they'll come down about 1/2" with a light weight bumper and winch.
