Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Hi Mike,

I am looking to get the C59-677V springs from you. I noticed they were out of stock on the amazon site and your website.

I have an 09 4runner, with about 100lbs of cargo weight plus skids, sliders, and an aluminum roof rack. I currently have the toytec superflex coils, but they're sagging from all the weight, and I want at least an extra inch, if not 2 over what I currently have......I currently have fox shocks with a stroke of 15.55 to 24.65 inches.

Would this pair well with my shocks? Also would those springs, still be adequate if I added an extra 200 lbs with a rear bumper and swingout?


I was going to go with the MT HD LT springs. They're:

19.25" tall
top coil is 104lbs
bottom is 300lbs.

The C59-677 is:

19.65"
top coil is 157lbs
bottom is 230 lbs

I don't know the math to calculate, but which of the top 2 options would net more lift? Or are they pretty similar?

When do you plan to have them in stock again?

Do the UCA’s allow for more travel?

They free up the suspension to move as much as the struts will allow, so if you have longer travel struts, you would get more travel without the UCA's restricting them.

The C59-677V would be the right coil now, but as soon as you add that rear bumper, I'd suggest the C59-701V. The leverage that a rear bumper puts on the rear suspension is a whole lot. They're both designed to sit at 3" of lift with the listed amount of constant weight added to them.

Those fox shocks have less travel than our rear long travel shocks, so you'll be ok. Those are just about 1" longer than our GS59-701.

I am currently looking for options on my 04 Limited V8. 5100s set at zero with Wheelers/Eibach T1s in front now and not digging the ride (super squishy) and sitting about 2" lower than the rear (36.5" in front, 38.5" in back). Based on the chart on p1, C59-314 coils would be recco with a V8, correct? I tried to find them on the online store and had no success. If anyone has experience, please chime in. Cheers.

Just ordered new shocks/struts and coils. My truck is a bit old and rusty, so I went with the 302/599 front/rear springs. Hope to get about 2" inches of lift.

What would be recommended for an 04 V8? I’m hoping to get 32s underneath the truck without rubbing. I’m wanting to add an aftermarket front bumper and winch at some point, but it’s not near term.

My main use is some mild to mid level off road and pulling a small (12-14ft) camper. I all likelihood it will end up as my DD as well, it gets much better mileage and is much more comfortable than my truck.

I was thinking the 302 spring and 220 strut up front, but I’m at a loss on the rear. I’m new to 4runners, but given my desired tire size, it seems like 3/2 lift is roughly my target.

Those tires should fit just fine even with a 2" lift. If you go with the 302/220 combo up front for 3", then I'd suggest 2" in the rear, so C59-325 with GS59-637. Or, depending on the tongue weight of that trailer, you can go to C59-327 for some extra spring rate to support the weight better while towing.

Hey man. I used to live in Laguna Niguel and work in Dana Point!! It's a small world!!

With that front end weight, I'd suggest C59-314 and GS59-221 struts for a solid 2" of lift with the V8 and the weight. Then C59-327 on the rear with GS59-637 for 2" rear lift also.

Our new site could help you a lot, as you choose as you go for the coils, based on extra weight added.

Thought I'd share my info using Dobinsons C59-725 coils designed for the 5th gen with KDSS

2004 4Runner V8 4x4 Sport
(stock weight front, 107# of tools in rear @ all times)
Front Bilstein 6112's 4th notch with 700# coils
Rear Dobinsons C59-725 KDSS coils (taller on driver side) using oem coil isolators / Rear Bilstein 5100's

Center of hub to fender measurements are with full tank of gas..
Measurements taken today, coils have been installed for about 3 weeks now, no off road
Driver front: 22.25"
Passenger front: 22.25"
Driver rear: 23.5"
Passenger rear: 23.875"

Anybody running spacers on the drivers side in conjunction with their lift? I'm running the 2.0 and the front driver side is almost an 1" lower than the passenger and about a 1/2" in the rear. Rear is less annoying, but I'm super frustrated with the front.

Yes I am. 1/4" toytec spacer in the front, OME trim packer in the rear. Literally picking the 4runner up from my post-lift installation alignment this afternoon, I'd be happy to share before and after measurements with you if it would be helpful. I will say my pre-lift measurements showed my drivers side exactly 1/2" lower than passenger side. Not as bad as yours, but still enough to want to fix it.

1/4" front spacer wasn't hard to install at all, and I was able to get it in with the stock length top hat studs. Rear trim packer wasn't bad either, just set it on top of the coil bump and wedge rear coil back in place.
