Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

09' V8

Looking to run 275/65/R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with a moderate lift that will maintain some rake front to rear when empty, so when loaded I'm sitting closer to level. I hate it when a truck is squatting (rear is lower than front) when loaded.

Front:
C59-302 + GS59-220 = ~ 3" on stock weight V8. (+UCA of some kind to correct alignment)

Rear:
C59-675V + GS59-701 = ~2.5" lift on stock rear end load but will contol additional weight of occasional cargo/passengers/trailer nicely while not beating me to death when unloaded.

Sound about right? Tried to find these parts on Dobinson direct, but appears not all are available yet. Would like to order there as I don't want to have to assemble the front springs and struts if possible. Is this an option if ordered via Amazon or is that via direct orders only?

Yeah, that's a really good combo. No, we aren't listing the assembly on the site, as we don't want people ordering without first talking to them and verifying everything that they need first, and making sure it's right, especially since there's extra time and labor involved in assembling.

Might be hard to see but the driver lean is pretty real. Have half a tank of gas right now.


Better shot here where you can see it with the line running across the top. Should I put in a spacer? It’s off by about 3/4”?

I have FJ coils in my rear and had a really bad lean as well. I recently installed some 5100s in the rear and while doing so, I added a 1.5 Daystar spacer on the driver's rear. Now the rear end is completely level. Hope this helps ya.

Quick question about the C59-325's. On the OP of this thread you have them listed as

C59-325 - Stock rear end load, 1.75" to 2" lift. 420/420mm, 17mm wire, 220LB

while on the site it says

2.25″ to 2.5″ – Toyota 4Runner 2003 to 2017 Medium Load to 200LBS Accessory Load.

Shopping for my dad's '06 V8 and thinking this might be a good option but not sure which lift numbers are correct.

Maybe the parts you have just aren't suited to how your vehicle is setup? Can you tell us what parts you have installed and how your vehicle is equipped?

Front:
C59-302 Coil
GS59-221 Shock

Rear
C59-327 Coil
GS59-637 Shock

2006 V8. No front sway bar. Rear still connected. Truck has upgraded battery (G27), sliders, aluminum skids, and ARB 50qt in the rear (Driver side).

I worked my specifications with the guys at Main Line Overland and this is the setup that was recommended. I'll have to take some measurements, but the driver side lean is very noticeable. It's probably an inch lost on the driver side.

Finally got around to installing my Dobinsons setup from Mike. 314's up front, 505's in back, Dobinsons struts and shocks, Dobinsons Upper Control Arms. It turned out beautifully, and the alignment came in nicely, as I replaced the LCA's and the cam hardware while I was at it. Still settling in on the new wheels/tires OEM FJ Aluminum with 255/75R17 Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. Thanks for all of your help Mike!

Sorry about that, I just corrected it and added the line for the 4th Gen's specifically, as they don't lift as much.

This thread has the most accurate info, as it's based on real world measurements and feedback from all the owners on here who have shared their results.

That's right, $90 for the assembly and $80 for a pair of mounts, so $170 on top of a suspension basically

Ah, thanks. I saw a post in this thread mentioning that its not listed on the site because they want to make sure everything is right before offering assembly, so I didn't even look.

finally got my springs installed. dobinsons 300 front, 323 rear. i replaced moog fj fronts and moog stock replacement rears and its a huge improvement in ride. gained about an inch in the rear and probably an inch or so in the front over the fj springs.

Hey bud,

Since 4th Gens seem to be more prone to leaning than 5th gen's, we recommend 1/4" front top mount spacer on the driver's side. On the rear, you can buy the C59-725 rear offset height coils, and put the taller on the driver's side as well. Those are made for 5th Gen's with KDSS, and are basically the same as C59-325, but with one coil being 15mm taller than the other side to correct for a lean.

Hey man, I'd need to know what lift height you're at right now to determine what coils to go with. What is your rear hub-to-fender measurement currently, and what accessory weight are you carrying? All that plays into what coils to run.

I don't recommend perfectly level, and definitely not negative rake. If you ever load up, you'll lose some steering control on the front, which isn't a great idea. If your rear is only 1" higher than the front, I'd stick with that if I were you.
