Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Hey Crikeymike

My local shop recommended Dobinsons which led me to stumbling upon this thread. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge.

2007 V6 4WD
~100k miles on what I suspect is original components
Drivers front ~18.5in
Drivers rear ~ 20.5in

Extra weight:
RTT ~140lb which is usually installed from March through October/November
Camping gear another 150lb - 200lbs for weekend trips or a couple 5-10 days trips a year.

Planning:
C59-302
GS59-221
C59-505
GS59-701

The ultimate goal is to lift, reduce rake, and maintain comfort when the RTT is not on top. Any concerns based with this based on the above info?

Hey man. Your username gave me the first big laugh of the day. hahaha

Yeah, that setup will have you sitting much better than where you are now, super sagged out. 22.5" front and 23.5" in the rear with those parts you selected. Yeah, without the tent and gear in there you'll be sitting nice, but you can expect 1/2-3/4" squat in the rear when adding that gear for trips, etc, but you should still be no less than level front to rear with that weight.

That's a super common setup, the most common actually.

Stock Height Xreas Replacement

hi Crikeymike

Thanks in advance for the attention and hopefully response:)

Im currently driving an 08, V8 limited 160k ALL STOCK: with xreas and Rear air suspension. Xreas is starting to give up - not leaking but quite bumpy; still corners very well though.

Seems everyone here its into lifting their rig, but while I like the looks im not looking to sacrifice mpg and performance (body roll). I drive my truck pretty hard and performance and comfort are my main criteria so would prefer to stay at stock height.

Ive been reading around and seems tha IMS shocks would be the best bang for the buck for my application - pls correct me if Im wrong. Now, i dont think there is nothing wrong with my front coils but if I get there, i might changed them too. My rear air suspension is working pretty nice and wouldn't like to change it for now.

So, what setup would you recommend? to recap:
1. Stock setup - performance and comfort main criteria
2. Keep RAS
3. Would need shocks and front coils.

Hey bud,

So you could reuse your old stock springs if you want, or change them to the C59-296, closest to stock height on a V8 that we offer.

Then IMS front and rear, 220's and 705's on a stock weight vehicle.

thanks Mike!, do you know if the 705's are a regular extension? I heard if they push too much on the spring, like the 5100's could cause damage to the air suspension.

C59-296: how much would a lift would it add?

I didn't think about that, the 705's are still longer than stock, so the airbags might get over-extended.

You might need to run the shorter GS59-637 instead.
GS59-637 - Twin Tube, suits 0-2.5" lift. 581mm extended, 349mm compressed.
GS59-705 - Twin Tube, suits 0-2.5" lift, softer valving for empty rear ends. 590mm extended, 355mm compressed

296's should have the hub to fender sit at 19.5-20" approximately.

No option on the IMS series for a close to stock option?

No.

If you had coil springs, it would be no issue, but since you're trying to keep the airbags, you may risk over-extending them with the longer than stock shocks. It's the airbags that's the problem.

Would it be any gains of going with IMS in the front with stock springs, and GS59-637 in the rear?

Better performance, bigger piston size, more oil, better cooling, adjustable height, compared to the twin tubes.

so to recap, the optimal setup from what i read is:

Front: OEM springs/FJ or 4runner, (still debating) with IMS59-50220?
Rear: GS59-637

IF that's correct, how do I order for Canada??:)

Better to use new springs than old OE.

You need to email in your info and what you want to order.

Finally got the time to get my new suspension on and test it out this weekend. Nothing but good things to say about the whole experience!

Front: GS59-220 with C59-296 springs, SPC UCA’s

Rear:IMS59-50575 LT shocks with C59-675V coils

285/70/17 tires

Great looking setup! Any chance you have any more pics? Especially of the truck sitting flat?

Finally installed!

Huge thanks to Mike for all the help with choosing the right set up for me. The customer service was great and shipping times were perfect as well. Was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with everything I needed and was even able to change my order on the fly. Can't thank you enough for helping me get my Truck looking just how I wanted it!

Thank you! Here are the best pics I could find, I have since built a spare tire carrier, the weight hasn’t changed the ride height much though. Sorry to flood the thread with my lame pics lol.

ETA updates

Crikeymike Any updates on future shipments regarding UCA's and 677v springs in red?

You'll have to send me an email with your order number so I can check. There are too many pending orders and people in lines all over the place, and posting ETA info here confuses the **** out of people I've found

Hey!
I went ahead and ordered this via a local shop and Dobinsons Direct back in February. The 300's have been "arriving next week" per Dobinsons for 6 weeks now.

Do you have any insight into how long it will take?
