We were talking about the 4Runner. Not the trailer.
Lets set something up. We can do a weekend thing, or we can just do a day thing. We can drive out onto Topsail island. I think a beach/camp for those that come a long way would be a good thing......
Lets plan it out.

And yes on the skid plates. As long as you cover your oilpan, gas tank, transmisison, and transfer case, you should be good to go.
I would say the front could use a bumper, more-so than your rear end.

In other news....
I traded the M105 1.5 ton trailer. Straight trade for a M116A2 3/4 ton Generator trailer. Basically the same thing as M101A2.
Couple reasons I did that.
1) The M105 is a GREAT trailer. It was a little to big for what I wanted to do with it. I was going to cut it up, but the trailer was too damn pretty.
2) The thing was HEAVY and BIG. I couldn't see out the back window. The Wheels weren't what I was quite looking for.
In order to make the trailer what I wanted, I would have to swap the axles, hubs, find other rims, all that jazz.
So, I stopped by a guys place over here (who has 4 Duce and a halfs, a few old school Willys jeeps, and a couple Dodge military wagons, M416 trailers, 3/4 ton trailers, bomb loaders, ect BTW) to see if he happened to have any 16.5" HMMWV rims, or if he knew where I could get some. We got to talking, and I asked if he'd be interested in a straight trade for a M416. He politely declined, gave me a number where I could find one, then proceeded to tell me it'd be about 8-1000 bucks for one from this guy because they're so rare.
Then, he took me around back, and showed me this beaut.
Gorgeous trailer. Absolutely perfect. Has two HMMWV rims on it already, straight, no rust, and more expensive than my M105.
I plan on building a box on the trailer, to what I want. Don't have to worry about cutting a beautiful trailer up, making it look good, or any of that. Just build off what I have.
That, and I've got the two HMMWV rims that I want. Just need 4-5 more for the rig.
It's lighter, smaller, and going to be sexy when it's done.
Anyway, onto the pics. I'll get more tomorrow.

For the rest of you, those are 37" HMMWV tires on the Runner. The same ones that are on the trailer. One of the reasons for me swapping the M105 for that M116A2 Genny trailer.
Found some HMMWV Rims for 125, with the Rubber Runflats. Probably gonna pick them up this weekend. Then, Just need to center them.
I don't need to worry about the trailer rims right now. Worst comes to worst, I just take two rims apart, and swap tires. I'm going to carry a spare TIRE with me too. No need for an extra rim. These make changing tires easy.

Actually, I didn't realize that those were 37's on the 4Runner. I just thought the trailer was super cool looking behind the 4Runner. But that's even cooler!

I'm going to build my own trailer off that one. Make my own box, with room for at least a spare tire up front and a box. Maybe a small fuel tank to carry some extra gas. That way, I can go on some EXTENDED trips. LOL.
They do look a little small. The tread is almost worn down though. Still have some meat on them, but not nearly as much as the trailers do.

Unfortunately, she won't be on the 37s for long. I'm still getting wobble at 40-50+. And some serious rubbage on the fender. I'm thinking when I go wheeling, I'll just pull the fenders off, or get some fiberglass ones. Haven't really decided on that one yet. Either that, or a bigger body lift.
Then, when I get the rims, I'm going to recenter them, then put them on the truck. I'm seriously considering just getting some 33's for DDing, and using the 37s for when I go out and hit the trails.
