Does the ECU know the location of the TPMS?

I purchased the OBDLink Bluetooth adapter for a variety of reasons, one being to monitor my tire pressures. My question is as follows. Does the ECU know the location of each TPMS sensor ID? It seems my sensors now line up with the ECU ID number ie..

ID1 = Front Left
ID2 = Front Right
ID3 = Rear Left
ID4 = Rear Right
ID5 = Spare

I've verified this by deflating and it aligns perfectly. If I rotate my tires, will the system learn the new TPMS Sensor ID and correlate it to the ECU ID position? Or is it just a coincidence that it aligns perfectly now?

Wouldn't think so, but you could try swapping the tires and see what shows up. Kinda curious now...

In my experience, no, it doesn't know where they are. I have a Maestro DataLink hooked to my Pioneer head unit and it shows the tire pressure with a little car graphic and now that I've rotated a few times the pressures are all scrambled. If anyone knows how to set them back to rights I'm all ears, otherwise I'll just keep carrying a pressure gauge so I can figure out which one is which!

This is an answer I was looking for. Well my plan B is this then, maybe it can help you. In my App i can change the color of my gauges, So i think Im just going to buy some multi color heat shrink set on amazon and put some heat shrink around my TPMS valve and change the App icon ID accoringly to each. If that makes any sense, maybe you can do that with your head unit.
