Hello ladies and gents. Pulled my H11 LEDs. Chose a set with high reviews on Amazon, used them for about 10 months, give or take. I noticed these black marks (smooth to the touch, almost look like heat burn marks without any char or such build up). Not uniform at all, but on both housings. Is this normal or should I be praying to the Indy Jones gods that my 4Runner didn't melt? Thank you and please.
Does this H11 LED look.. dangerous?

Runnin4Tacos has sells low beam LED bulbs. I first installed Sealight LEDs from Amazon, then switched it up to VLEDs from R4T - BIG DIFFERENCE.

Interesting, thank you. I will check them out. Big claims, of being brighter than a 35w HID system. I'm looking for a reputable LED, so that I don't have to worry about burning down my 4Runner are stuff around it haha

Had Cougar Motor LED. They were bright and good quality, but did not like how far they projected, especially in the rain.
There are some good posts and threads about the limitations of LED bulbs in the stock headlight housing.
Super happy I switched back to Halogen. Using Sylvania SilverStar Ultra. The Philips X-tremeVision are good as well. Just my 2cents.

Good post! Thanks. I was actually thinking about sticking with halogens too, but didn't want the housing looking like it had a blue hue because of a blue bulb. Halogens are just safe. Seeing this LED bulb in this condition is pretty surprising. The Morimoto LEDs on Amazon have pretty poor reviews making me not so confident in those either. I am going to check out both your halogen recommendations, thank you. How do you like the Sylvania's compared to the Cougar LEDs that you had?

I like them a lot. I do carry an extra set in the glovebox b/c I know they won’t last as long. I am happy with the output I get at night, even during bad weather. Just drove through heavy rainfall in the middle of the night here in Fl with no visibility issues. Even my wife was happy compared to when she drove in the rain one night and could not see past 2 ft.
Thank you. Can you see the blue hue of the bulb through the housing? What made you replace the LED bulbs?

Switched due to reading some posts on here about the housing limitations for LED bulbs. Explained why my lights looked super bright, but they did not project very far. And they were terrible in the rain (located in Florida).
Thanks for the explanation. I think I might take your advice, and copy you with a new halogen. There is another thread going on, and between everything not sure how I feel doing LED bulbs anymore.

I'm probably looking at this pic a bit differently than you are. To my eyes, these lights don't look like that they have heat-darkened spots. Instead, it appears that the bronze/brown areas have been "bleached" due to UV exposure. However, I do not know what materials or what coatings were used during manufacturing.
Did you do the h9 mod or stick with h11? Googling, I couldn't find the h9 in "ultra" so I may have answered my own question..
Interesting take, thank you. That makes me feel better, even though I don't plan on reusing these specific ones or the brand in general. The seller/manufacturer couldn't give me a response about it. And the dark spots are on both sides of the housing.
