does trail edition roof rack come with cross bars?>

Dealer couldn't even tell me if the cross bars come standard on the 2012 Trail. I believe on SR5 and LImited they are optional, but can not see anything definitive on the trail. Want to know because I have mine ordered and arriving 2nd week in December and want to be ready to set up my roof rack... I am a whitewater kayaker and have some pretty specific additions I'll make.

My Canadian Trail came with them, I'm positive the US ones do too.

On my invoice, they were an option I was billed for, I think it was like $275 for the pair.

I have not seen many TE's without them, so I suspect that was a pretty common factory option. Of course, you can get aftermarket cross bars that fit the TE rails and can carry more weight for less.

My 2011 TE came with them as standard equipment, not an option.

When I was looking at the Lexus GX 460, the salesman said the crossbars are an option because adding them eats 1-2 MPG.

My SR5 came with them. Dealer said it was an option but when it was transferred from another dealer they were already on.

1-2 MPG? Maybe if you're driving @ 90 MPH daily. Street driving makes no diff.

I can tell you for a fact they do NOT affect mileage when empty but with a big box attached there may be a slight loss at high speed (nowhere near a mile per gal).
