Dog hair sticking to seats in Trail

Looking to purchase a trail with the black interior. Have a yellow lab that will be confined to the rear area and I will cover, but hair flies like crazy. Wife is concerned that it will stick to the fabric on the trail. Any thoughts?

You can't get leather with the TE...stock. A couple of guys have had it installed by the dealer.

Hey Boomer,

There's only one good solution: cover the back seat with a very good pet cover. We have a dog that sheds constantly and the only thing that has saved our SR5 backseat is a duraguard canvas cover. Search them out on the web, but here is an Amazon link Amazon.com: Medium SUV / Station Wagon Rear Pet Seat Cover - 54" Wide: Everything Else.

You'll still need to vacuum the car a few times a week, but that's the price to have a canine as a rear seat passenger.

You are going to need leather OR put seat covers on ( those neoprene types ). I have a dog and can't imagine what cloth seats would be like . Leather all the way

Thanks, for the replies. Thought maybe the trail fabric might be easier to clean and brush off because of the water and dirt resistance.

fwiw: the Trail fabric is easier to clean than the fabric on my previous '06 Sport.

It's really simple physics, surface texture.

I really wanted the Trail but also really wanted leather, oh well. You would have thought for an off road oriented vehicle where the passenger will most likely often be dirty and sweaty (outdoor activities not the general nature of those who buy them , the leather option would have made sense.

I will say the Limited's keyless thing is something I really like now and I'm glad I went with it. I don't carry keys now, the fob is in my wallet.

I've got a yellow lab and a blue heeler, both shed quite a bit. I think the TE fabric is a little more resilient to allowing the hair to "stick" in. However, a dog bed in the back, and a gate barrier work wonders.

First, Scotchguard the seats... You can use packing tape to clean pet hair. I'd just fold down the seats for him to provide more room and put one of his beds there. I'd also recommend Weathertech/Husky...

I had the same type of waterproof seats in my FJ and had to put leather seat covers on. I have 2 dogs (a Lab and a Beagle/Pit mix) and it was a b!tch getting dog hair out of those seats, even with our Dyson vacuum. I've heard that the Wet Okole's are pretty easy to keep clean but not as easy as leather.

That is why I ordered leather seats to be installed by the dealer for ~ $1200 (in black). If the dog(s) will be riding in the very back, I put down a blanket for them to lay on to keep the hair off the carpet mat.
Or you could always wrap your dog in saran wrap!
