Getting either a 13 or 14 model year ltd. Problem is my now 9 mth old shepherd chews my seat belts and carpet in my qx4. What do you guys recommend for the best protection so he doesn't destroy the new vehicle.finding a crate big enough to fit him will probably be to tall to fit in the rear.Thanks in advance

Luckily I've never had to deal with that, but I've had friends tell me that these types of barriers are pretty effective:

9 months old? I think I would wait another 9 months on a new vehicle if I was going to haul him around a lot, he should start to grow out of a lot of that chewing by then.

I just got my '11 TE yesterday and today I bought the Kurgo wander hammock, door guards and harnesses from Canadian Tire. I'm hoping they do a good job as I have 2 pitbulls who are a little rambunctious. So far I wish the door guards were a little longer. I'll update after they go for a few rides in their new dog mobile.

Treat the root of the problem - buy some Bitter Apple spray and provide your pup a toy to chew on as an alternative.

That's good advice. You may want to have some rawhide chews to toss back there. I'd also do some in-vehicle training while you're not actually driving. That way you can correct behavior without crashing your new T4r.

My Catahoula sheds white hair and slobbers all over the place. Luckily she doesn't chew. I've heard her howl a couple times as I walk away from the car though. That made me nervous enough to go check on her after 10 min or so.

I have Ridgebacks, my biggest male is almost 100lbs. They are bad chewers at a young age. You can fit a 42" Long crate in the back exactly between the wheel wells. There's a company called Midwest who makes a double door crate, so the crate will fit in the back of the truck with an easy to get to door. This will save your interior and keep your dog safer during travel. My male and my smaller female will fit in the same crate in the back. It works well. They rode together in the crate all the way from southern PA to Orlando last fall for a dog show, it worked out perfectly. Good Luck!
