I'm going to be honest...I've never changed mine and I'm almost at 100k. I can only imagine what it looks like considering Ive slept in that thing almost 200 nights on camping trips.

16k? Weird, I remember seeing 15k somewhere (which would make more sense in my mind since it would be due every 3rd service.) As I pointed out though, that's not a set number though because based on your area and how much re-circulation you use will affect the life of the cabin air filter.

Just remember you have that AC blowing in your face all summer and that's what it passes through before you breath it. It's not an end all be all but for 8 bucks a pretty good buy when changing other things out. And it really only takes 30 seconds to do.

After looking at CAF most people wouldn't want to breath only air that goes through that for one min, much less for hours on a trip.

Here is mine at 30K. Mostly on road use. Replaced with a Toyota filter that cost more than the Toyota engine air filter (WTF!). AC was at least 50% better than it was prior to the change out.

Just checked mine. It looked about the same ^^ minus a few leaves after 10K. Will pull the trigger on ordering a few from the provided links as I paid $21.69 for the last one at the dealer.

I sometimes spray mine with odoban and let dry before installing. Gives a fresh scent for a while and kills mold spores.

From reading this thread, I decided to run by the stealership and pick up a new filter as I just put 10,000 miles on my 4Runner since I got it with 13,701 miles. Now at 24,000 miles I noticed my air output was not what it should be. The force of air just did not feel right with the sound the fan was making on higher levels. So this thread prompted me to check and then change the filter out. Oh man, I am so glad I did, The difference was night and day! Wait until you see the pictures below!

I thought I bought a premium replacement filter, but the number of pleats is a lot less, makes me want to get the Toyota filter next time.

I change mine as needed, usually around every 16000 km, during the summer when I'm driving through a lot more dusty conditions i might do it early if needed.

I checked mine the other day and it had a bunch of leaves and crap in it. I didnt have time to hit the parts store so i threw it back in...used the heater later that night and guess I knocked loose a bunch of them and some crap fell into the blower motor lol, I could here it clicking around as it spun so I replaced mine. Just got a cheapie Puralator filter for now but heres my old one...and this is wih 25k miles, idk if it had ever been changed or not.

I replace mine around 10k-15k...there isn't much dust here but a decent amount of pollution, dirty air, and leaves around this time of the year. I go with the Mann Filters

I like these a lot. Antimicrobial, charcoal, decent pleating. I have decent allergies in the Fall and the misses gets hers in the Spring. Since I switched to these, neighter of us have had much issues with pollen in the car systems.
