Also want to thank EDGE for the info on not slamming the rear hatch. I thought I read somewhere that closing the gate hard would not harm the motor, but this certainly isn't the first (or last) time I've been wrong. I don't abuse the rear gate, maybe use it once a week, but I've forgotten on more than one occasion to gently shut it.
no problem, you can gentle slam/close it but not like you would close the rear hatch on the back of an SUV that just has the normal mechanism back their ( but obviously for the best care a gentle close is best ) I've seen rear hatches break after being opened and closed many times, usually after the vehicle is 5-10 years old, I wonder how the motor will hold up, I use the back door just as much as my drivers side door but now I split the difference between the window and door
