Dous's Build Thread Version 2.0

Installed the CBI today, went on for the most part without any trouble. It shipped out last week when Nathan was out of the shop, as a result a few pieces weren't shipped, but I was able to install it with what they sent. I have already talked to Nathan and he was very helpful and is having the rest sent out next week!

The bumper fitment was flawless, and the welds are awesome, except for one on the spindle...I don't know what happened there, but I am ignoring it

Looks good.

So now you need a turbo for your supercharger to push all that armor around...:boxer:

Damn that looks sweet! I want a CBI so bad... I think I'm eventually going to sell my Savage rear bumper and get a CBI. That looks sweet. I want one just like that with a jerry can holder, and made for a 1.5" body lift.

How does the tire carrier latch operate on that? I'm just curious because on my tire carrier, mine is secured with a big lock pin. It definitely assures 100% that it will not fail and allow the tire carrier to swing open, but man it is a pain in the ass to get in and out of the hole sometimes. I've seen a lot of tire carriers with a clamp, but clamps don't really give me a good sense of security.

Yea I may add the can holder later on, looks a little bare, although I may just throw on a Rotopax deal.

It sounds like we have the same type of latch, a handle with an ACME threaded pin. Turns about 3 times, yea it's much less convenient then a clamp, but just like you said it's a lot more peace of mind

Oh so wait, that handle on the left screws in? That's really cool. Mine doesn't screw in, mine is a drop in pin. I don't know if you can tell by the picture below, but there is a chain that hold the lock for it. I don't know what the pin is actually called, but it's a really thick drop in pin that keeps the tire carrier from moving. I keep a can of WD40 with me in case the pin ever gets stuck, which it has before. The shop that added the tire carrier to my bumper didn't really think that part of the design all the way through.

Oh okay, I see what you are saying. Yea the CBI screws in, there are zero rattles, and I don't worry at all!

At the beach today, wanted to get into the marsh and cast my line....all I caught was a crab that decided to pinch onto my line....lol

Still a good day at the beach!

Went out to Uwharrie today with some Toyota buddies, pictues to come

DAMAGE REPORT:

I finally broke a CV! First one, and keep in mind I wheel 2-3 times a month. It was a pretty mild failure too. I noticed something felt strange in the 4wd system on the last trail, looked at the CV's and they looked fine. Drove home and grabbed a hold of the actual axle shaft it it moved all over the place

-Also broke a limiting strap

Not quite similar rig though!

Here I am testing out the CBI side hoops, they did a great job keeping the wall well away from my quarter panel

So it looks like I will begin collecting parts for my 3 link SAS towards the end of July.

Going with a Rock Assault housing cut for an E-Locker.
-6 Shooter Knuckles/Arms
-30 Spline Birfs/Axles
-Chromo Spindles
-Chomo Hub Gears
-Aisin Manual Hubs
-Hydro Assist Steering
-14" Travel King C/O's

All in all it should cost around 6k, I figure I will get close to 2k back on my IFS parts so not a crazy amount of money to spend!

A few from Windrock this weekend.

A 3 foot straight drop into a 2 foot deep mud hole made for quite the mess in the engine bay.

Needs moar tire.

His rear links got a little sad.

As of yesterday he broke both his tail lights and had a few minor dents and scrapes on the back quarter panels. Oh and the CBI took MANY hard blows and scrapes and held up pretty well.
