Dous's Build Thread Version 2.0

So I went out to Uwharrie yesterday instead of the Gulches due to the line of nasty T-storms that blew through. Gulches is awful when wet and many times closed.

Had an awesome time. The 4runner was point and shoot with the front and rear locked. I did the hardest lines possible out there with no issues what so ever. And no CV breakage either.

I did break an upper link though, luckily I had a spare in the truck. Time to place an order for ToyTec's link deal

Unfortunately my photographer was unable to join me, so I don't have too many pictures. BUT, I have some and a couple videos I can link.

OP delivers finally. :bounce:

Couple questions:

What PSI were you aired down to?

Still no problems running an 8" wide rim?

I was at 15 PSI. My wheels are getting torn up on the outside lip a bit, but I knew that was going to happen I guess. I have no concerns about losing a bead

Nice photos and videos.. Are you wheeling in 4hi most the time?

Thanks, no that is all 4LO.
The videos don't give must justice to the angle of the terrain. Doc2012 did that all in 4HI because his transfer case crapped out and he overheated the transmission big time as a result

You might also be hearings my electric fans, they are loud

Do it! They are awesome wheels, and the 255 BFG's bite down awesome on the rocks....it is quite the pricey combo though

About $620 for wheels and a little over a grand for tires. Not too bad. I'm going to beat the absolute crap out of my wheel wells in order to fit the massive 33.4" tires on about 1.75" of lift.

Here are two shots for you dorks....they were taken at the NCFJ show at Leith this past Saturday...a bit of mall crawling

Dous,

No shots of Singtoe's rig, or did he not make it? Win anything in the raffle ( a winch)?

Dorks? You mean current engineering students? Ha.

I met one FJ guy in that club from Raleigh two years ago in Greenville at a Grady White show. Seemed like a nice guy, worked for GE. He could not stop ranting though about the B pillar blind spot.

Singtoe did not make it. I won a couple small items including a Miller Light pop up canopy for my white trash affairs.

It's a cool group, I wheel with the couple of them that do

Winner!

I-dont-always-win-but-when-i-do-Im-winning....DUH_.jpg

I was bummed out. I had person after person come into my shop and by the time it had slowed down, the show was over.

I never got a chance to register thus no winning.

Anytime you want to Wheel on a Sunday, I'm game.

We finally made it down to the Gulches....seems like we can't catch a break in the weather department. We had until 2:30 then it started pouring rain and we left the park.

Well my exhaust exploded today...haha. Crappy OBX gasket disintegrated driving down the road. I had to go the whole day sounding like a tractor. Oh god it was awful...so embarrassing!

But I got it taken care of now....just had to share my misery.

My newest acquisition. 50 quart ARB fridge/freezer! I picked it up for $500 bones, cheaper than I can get it through work even though we are a vendor. Very gently used, I hadn't planned on getting one, but at that price, I didn't have a choice. Right?

Awesome get:guitar3: I've had that on my want list for ever. Looks great in there, I have jealousy. LOL

I don't usually mess around with the mud, none of us do....but this actually presents a bit of a challenge so I enjoy it! My bumper and flare rubbed a bit but nothing major. Oh and ignore my brakes, the crappy ceramics squeak when wet

Also I am about $500 away from ordering the CBI rear bumper. But it may take a while to get that 500, I have shifted funds towards saving for my WindRock trip, I'd like to have $1k liquid for the trip.

I am ordering the bumper as follows

CBI Plate Bumper
-Standard swingout
-Single can carrier
-Side hoops to protect rear quarter panel
-Bare steel

I think I will be happy with it, should look sweet with my SCS wheel and KM2 on the back.

After that comes the 35's

you wont be disappointed in the CBI, allot some extra time for them to get it built though. I love mine and couldnt be happier with it, solid with no rattles. Have you ever been to Windrock? Its an awesome place that you could spend a week at and not hit all the trails. The closest thing to what we used to have up in Tellico.

This is going to be my first time, going with a couple "regulars"

We will be there for 4 days, so hopefully we will see some of it. I am super excited, it is about 6.5 hours from Raleigh, yay!
