Dous's Build Thread Version 2.0

BEAUTIFUL. :jaw drop: This may be my favorite one yet

Oh my... This is excellent

It's almost sexual!

That looks absolutely amazing,I would love to see it in person!:jaw drop:

Tires brought it all together...outfrickenstanding

Thanks guys!

Holy 8lb 6oz Baby Jesus!
Sick!
What springs did you settle on in the rear?

I am trying the 850J's next, should net 2" over what I have now...hopefully! The freaking springs are too expensive to keep buying!

Sweet! Looks killer man! Can't wait to see it on some trails. Glad you're keeping the 12's. Also looks like you're able to lower the front an inch if you want to (unless your upper is unloading at droop), but I really like the stance!

Wow...can't really put it in any other words. Looks awesome can't wait to see trail pics!!!!

Thanks man!

:yo:

I am happy to be keeping the 12's as well, but I couldn't lower it an inch without losing what little up-travel I have as it is

But nevermind that:

I sold the King's today to Ali Monsour, technical editor at Fourwheeler....he has his Jeep in the shop doing an article on our D60 swap. Well, during dis-assembly it was found that his rear C/O's were bent...so he offered 1k. I caved, because I really want ORI's.

The ORI's will be the answer to my prayers, because even though they are a 12" C/O they are almost a full inch shorter than the King's at compression, meaning I can drop it down an inch and be A-OK!

Exactly! I'm mocking up 14" ORI's now. They are 20.9" collapsed; 34.4 extended. Not sure how that compares to what you had but I bet it is better. Still a ways to go before truck is on its own weight, but will post pics. Like you, barely thru fender well with towers from TMR custom.
Beware, ORI is back ordered +12 wks on new orders. You may have an inside connection though.

Can't wait to see pics! Yea those 14" numbers are similar to the Kings I have now.

I may have an inside connection, still not 100% sure....I think the 12s are pretty regularly available, but the 14's and 16's are much more popular for builds so they go quickly.

So...after talking to our vendor today it looks like the lead time is 8-10 weeks. So I am just going to wait I guess, kind of a bummer, but the ORI's will better suit my needs

That means 12-15wks. Ask me how I know.
I have a lead on some 14" ORI's. Had to get resourceful during the 3 month wait.
Keep in mind the 1.6" mounting width. Had to expand my lower mounts.
Hopefully it will all cram in near ride height. Fingers crossed.

I'd check with Jerry at BayAreaMetalFab. He is a vendor as well and sometimes has them in stock. It's worth a try.

BTW, the 4runner looks absolutely sick! Definitely a long way from your old 2wd to this beast.

Christ, I didn't even consider the mounting width difference....well this may not work actually! Let me know if you can't find the 14's, I think one of the vendors we called yesterday had them on the shelf

Thanks my friend, I really appreciate it!

Well, it looks like I will be converting to Sway-Away 12" C/O's at this point

The ORI mounting width can be accommodated with a little lathe action, but I really don't feel like waiting a possible 12 weeks!

The appeal of the ORI's was the 19" collapsed length, as it turns out I overlooked the Sway-Aways, and they too have a 19" collapsed length...so they should work perfect!

I will be placing the order tomorrow and I will be back on track or something like that anyways!

10's or 12's? So with these, how much up travel will you be able to set it at?

12's

So I can either keep my same ride height and have 3.5" of up-travel, or bring it down an inch and have 2.5"

We will see, I am still not sure what length upper to run, when I put the 12" upppers on the King's I couldn't get the truck low enough, but with the 10" the whole assembly unloaded big time when drooping.

The Sway-Away's have been ordered! Only lost $200 on the deal, and that's with doing triple-rate as well...
