there was a major downhill section, all covered with snow and also plenty of patches of ice!! ... BIG dropoff, more like a cliff to my left.
I just bought my '03 T4R - mostly for the 4WD and DAC features, as I live on a hill, whose drive is a steep (perhaps 40 degree) concrete incline with a drop-off to my right. Last winter, I experienced many adrenaline surges as my Caliber slipped and slid over the snow and ice for 20 minutes as I inched it down, often dangerously close to the edge. I convinced myself that the fall would only hurt me and not kill me, so for many days, I put on my game face and tackled the hill ... until I ended up wedged against a tree. After that, I parked at the bottom and climbed up and down until spring.
With any luck, I am hoping that the DAC and 4WD in my truck will perform like a dream. All the research I did seems to indicate that it should. Snow is expected for tomorrow and, after last winter's experiences, I am very nervous - but somewhat reassured - by your posting. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope mine works as well as yours did!
Actually, the folks who just re-did the drive said it was more than 40 degrees. It's almost as steep as the posted photograph of the truck coming down the dirt road - UPS, fedEx and the moving company refused to drive up. The tires are new and supposed to be "appropriate" for Colorado hill driving ... they say. Thanks for the reassurance; we'll see how they do tomorrow.![]()
