That last pic looks badass! That looks so nice out there, anybody do any fishing?

Jon threw a couple casts but it didn't look like there were any fish. There were two little boats fishing but I doubt they got anything. The water was really clear, Jon said screw it. We'll have to plan something where you can come camping with us. This trip was extremely last minute for me because I wasn't sure I would be able to make it.

I'm glad we made it all the way to the lake though. There are some awesome camping spots there, we will definitely be going again. I'll be sure to let you know.

Nice. I love bowman and the rest of the lakes in that area. Really nice falls from creek filling into Bowman with sweet rock jumps in the summer.

Where's that last pic with the bridge?

Yeah I noticed some rock waterfalls but they were pretty weak the two times we've been up there. Since the snow is pretty much melted we'll probably cruise further to Jackson Springs next time (pretty sure that's what it's called) and check that lake out.

The last pic was on the way back. It's under the bridge on Hwy 20 between Penn Valley and Marysville. It's a cool little spot, we stopped there for like 10 min, but it seems like a lot of people go down there. There were some guys fishing right next to us and a good 10+ cars in sight. Not really a wheeling spot, just a spot to dink around.

Looks like you had a good trip! That area looks gorgeous.

Damn I hate seeing side-by-side 3rd gen 4Runners on 35's.... NOT.

I recognize that spot under the bridge, I get sent up there to p/u load out of the quarry there every now and then.

Great pictures of your trip.

Wow these wheeling trips are turning out to be a regular affair between you guys. Good for everyone. Can't wait to see more pics in the weeks and months to come.

The other lake you mentioned is called Jackson Meadows Reservoir. It has a paved road leading to it from HWY 89/Truckee area (power boats, RVs, etc.). Beyond that is Meadow Lake, which I believe can lead you down into the Fordyce Area.

Here's a pic of the upper most lake in the Bowman chain, Lake Foucherie. Its crystal clear and surrounded by granite.

And this is the middle lake, Sawmill Lake. This is where I usually camp.

And of course, an obligatory shot of the 4Runner.

Nice thanks! So if we kept driving that same trail around bowman lake it takes you further to jackson meadows, sawmill, and foucherie?

If you keep going past Bowman, you come to a fork at a campground. Left takes you to Jackson Meadows and right takes you to Sawmill and ends at Foucherie. If you head up toward Jackson Meadows, you can turn right before you get to the lake and that'll get you up to Meadow Lake, etc.

I'm scheming on linking up Bowman to Downieville to Feather Falls area hopefully this summer.

Ah I gotcha. Well thanks! Let me know if you decide to make the trip this summer. I'm sure Jon and Stoke and possibly Stockwell and a couple others would be down to come too.

Nice pics and nice scenery! When you gonna put a bumper on the back of that beast?

Thanks man! Design is in the works. My buddy Andrew is going to help me build it. Prob do Jon and Stoke's rear bumpers at the same time. It's gonna be a hybrid bumper, just gotta figure out where I want the plates. I've also got a side hoop design in my head right now that should be pretty cool which will also cover my taillights. Probably going to punch through the rear fender firewall as well and weld the rear bumper directly to the frame on each side for extra uber-strength. It will be covered up and sealed, you prob won't be able to notice it. Pretty much just need to go buy some metal and get to grinding, cutting, bending and welding. You'll definitely know when I've started lol
