DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

Let me know how well that high steer clears the oil pan! I am doing pretty much the same exact swap in a few months.

So as some of you know, I've been trying to plan a straight axle swap for a while. I've thought up options, changed my mind, changed my mind again, and again, and again. I was going to drive out of town today and pick up a HP dana 44 to rebuild, but right as I was about to leave I received a phone call from a friend of mine who is in the middle of swapping his 3rd gen. He decided to change his build and use a dana 60 and a 14 bolt rear, so he offered to sell me his already completely built axles and steering setup.

Specs:

HP Dana 44 (driver drop)
Arb Air Locker
5.13's
Flat top Reid Knuckles brand new
Birfields
New bearings, seals, ball joints
Toyota Flange

Ford 9"
Arb Air Locker
5.13's
Trussed (there is also armor for the bottom of the pumpkin, not installed yet)
New bearings, seals, etc

Steering:
IFS Box (89-95)
New High Steer setup
DOM tie rod, drag link

Everything is ready to go. This is a 3link/3link build. I still need a T100 oil pan and accessories, I need to buy an ARB compressor for the lockers, and a rear disc conversion. Going to most likely run (2) 12" ORI's for the front, and (2) 14" ORI in the rear. The links are already made, just need to add bungs. Also going to modify my existing panhard to use with the rear. Hopefully cutting everything off beginning of next week, so keep your eyes peeled on the classifieds. I will have (2) 882's w/ topouts and a trim packer and the OME 90004 struts assembled for sale, some 9 wraps and shocks and various IFS parts for sale.

Estimated build time: 2 months. (End of september)

Here are some teaser pics of the setup:

Looks like it is getting close to the time your start a thread on Pirate. Lol 37s would be a better choice for a d44 / 9" combo. Looking forward to your progress. What are the wms-wms for the 44 and 9"???

lol no I'm keeping it here. I'll be running 37's eventually. But I just bought these IROK's and they'll work fine so I'm not worried about finding some 37's anytime soon. Not exactly sure, I think they're 59".

Looks like you have a good starting point with some great parts! Looking forward to watching the progress.

Hmmm that sounds about right actually. I have seen them range from 57" to 67". Kind of a wide margin. And I love those IROKs, it is a toss up on those or rockers.

Oh and just saying pirate cause they tend to help you out a ton with all the technical stuff.

Just swap the knuckles out for chevy's in the front and when you do disc in the back, swap for 6 lug hubs.

problem is that everything knuckle and out wold have the be swapped. so knuckle, spindle, stub shaft, caliper bracket and disk. The only parts swappable ford to cheby are the lockout hubs. :cheer2:

Yanno until your last post on my build thread I had no idea this was going on over here...looks like it's a race to SASdom but it also looks like you're in the lead...still waiting on my top shift conversion kit.

LOL not in the lead yet - I haven't even started. I still have to chop my IFS off. Those axles are under my buddy's truck right now. Next week I'll be starting. Just swapping everything over. But, I'm not touching the transfer case, I just need to get the axles and links under there and get rolling. Down the road I'll be putting in duals. You'll be done first since you're only doing a front SAC.
