DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

Absolutely great build! Very inspired, I want to pick up a 1st or 3rd gen runner to start wheeling. I have some good friends in the Chico area(Beekeepers in Orland) so I am usually out that way once or twice a year. Moving to Vegas and will be missing the North Dakota snow after seeing all these California rigs in the snow!

Keep the wheeling pics coming!

Thanks! Let me know if you're ever up here!

Thank's man, how's your's holding up? You get it on any rocks lately? Let me know if you want to plan a trip sometime. I'm usually always down to go to High Lakes if you want to make the drive over. Otherwise lemme know!

Runner is still getting some fine tuning. Waiting on my struts so I haven't spent much time dialing in the coil overs.

Got my new beadlocks on and got some body and fender trimming done. Hope to make my bumpers soon.

My wife and I are thinking of hitting the High Lakes this Thursday, any advice on where to go?

Looks good! I'd love to join you but I'm pretty busy Thursday. I've only been to High Lakes a handful of times but we usually cruise to Spring Meadow Lake and then the trails pretty much start from there. Right after the campground, the first right will take you towards Pipejam which is really tight. I've never run it because it takes so long to get to, but the trail to Pipejam is a nice and fun drive.

If you keep going straight from Spring Meadow, there's a nice rock section and you'll come to a fork. The trail going left will take you to Morris and the trail to the right will take you to Saddle, you'll hit a wall (pic of the red 2nd gen trying to go up it)... you'll need to climb over it to keep going. The easy line is marked and to the right, it's not bad...might need a locker. Otherwise you'll need to turn around.

All of the trails are fun to check out though. Take some pictures!

Got the lightbar mounted! My friend Scott and I designed some mounting brackets and used steezemcqueen 's method, self tappers in the gutters. Worked great. I just need to find certain type of lock washer to get everything snug. I'll get some night shots tonight.

Went to a rock crawling competition called Calrocs yesterday and had a blast. Gotta love watching built buggies walk up and over everything...

Output pics of the light bar, keep in mind it's an el-cheapo MicTuning Epistar Flood pattern.

Like how did the light bar mount.

Considering doing something similar, since I also don't have the roof rack.
Been looking at trying to do a removable bracket design on a rack. Not much luck there.

So, you managed to bolt the light to the inside of the door jam it looks like? I've considered doing something on a bracket and mounting to the holes for the rack assembly.

Looks like you had fun there, you didn't join in on the competition?

We have the design saved so let me know if you want a pair of brackets.

I'm sure you could make it removable, but you'd have to pull the headliner to get a nut on whatever bolt you put through the gutters. I just used self tappers. I just don't have a roof rack that goes past my rear doors, so I had to mount it this way. The light bar came with mounts that attach to a stock roof rack though. Unless I'm missing what you mean?

Nah, didn't join in the competition. I have no idea what the rules are, I have no spare parts, and it's a two day thing. We even got there late lol.

You wouldn't want to trash your runner at Cal Rocks. I did it for awhile in this runner I built, but I busted ALOT of parts.

Is that you/buddy's cutting table? That'd be sweet to have in the shop to just cut out whatever you wanted whenever.

Yeah it's his, he's making a couple different sets of beadlocks for someone right now with it. Interested to see how they come out.

High Lakes again. Always fun. Gonna upload some videos either tonight or tomorrow. Saw a tiny bit of snow at the highest point. Hopefully it will start dumping in a couple weeks.

Kim Jong Il also made an appearance. :)
