DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

Looking great Rob. The rear is easy if you don't mind a little welding. You can take that edge up to the edge of the door. Just cut up to the fender trim line and weld it back together using a piece of 1/8 rod to get the edge back. Should gain another inch of clearance there.

Looking great though. Front is big enough for 42's now if you get greedy. :eyebrows:

Yeah I see what you mean. It's not hitting anywhere near the pinch weld though, just the middle of the fender, but with bumpstops it won't hit. I might mess with the rear fenders a little more though, we'll see.

Mmmmmm 42's.... I wish!

Ya there is not much you can really do in the rear without getting too crazy or just limiting. One thing to remember is depending how much more droop the other side of the rear will go, the axle will pivot on the bump stop pulling the tire in.

I used a set of 4" Daystar progressive bump stops. They work great and aren't harsh at all when they hit. Think they were 5 bucks for the pair. Cheap and effective. :thumb:

My goal if I ever went with a conversion was full width tons on wide 38's. Still might end up going that route someday... True 42's would be greedy but bad ass none the less. haha.

First off, swapped front upper springs to a 14" 175#, much smoother up front now.

NOW, onto more fun things...

Got hooked up with free VIP tickets to NASCAR in Sonoma last weekend. I have a newfound respect for NASCAR. Time of my life. My friend lives next door to the simraceway crew chief (Audi).

Open bar and free burgers and food!!

Awesome day Rob:frog::frog: BTW make sure your friend has those 1000 notes checked out and not just deposit them. I'm pretty sure they are worth more than face value.

Cool posts, thanks for sharing!

Did the front end drop down any with the 175# coils? I'd like to drop mine down another 1/2" or so, but I am out of adjustment.

You running a sway-bar yet?

Looks like good times!!!

Ha! I wish, but you gotta pay to play in one of those things. Who knows though... maybe next time.

Most definitely, it was his grandfathers safe and the mechanism broke. They all go back in another safe lol.

Nope because I set the ride height the same as before at 25". I went from a 12" 200# to a 14" 175# so I could keep the same preload and soften it up at the same time, as well as eliminate the coil unloading at droop. I had 2" preload on the spring and 3.5" of thread still showing with the 12" coils so I put a longer spring in and kept the same preload, so the height didn't change. Hope I explained that right lol

rideexileex flew down to Norcal from his homeland up north for the 4th, we had no clue what we were going to do.... so we picked him up Thursday night from the airport, and decided to go to Fordyce Friday morning through Saturday afternoon, then go boating all Sunday. One of the funnest weekends I've had in a while, not sure if we could have done anything better.

They might have when they blasted the middle section a couple weeks ago. The squeeze is way rutted out now and full of gear oil. Pretty knarly section.

downpour11: Got bored in class today.. As the professor rambles on overly simplified aspects of Photoshop, I decided to mess with one of your photos. Nothing crazy, just cropped the background (We were supposed to be cropping backgrounds from 3D circles/triangles/squares...

The girl next to me acted shocked and asked if it was my truck. I said, "Sadly, no. A fellow forum member's ride." She almost seemed disappointed. So you have a fan in Virginia Beach!

Went to Rubicon last weekend, Loon side in to Buck. Had a blast; wheeled, camped, drank, swam, the usual. My friend Ryan broke his front diff Saturday so we swapped it out and then as we leave camp to head home he grenaded a driveline u-joint and the spare he had didn't fit so we towed him all the way back to Loon. After that, my other friend sheared an upper link bolt which it turn spun his axle forward and it broke both front coilovers. He decided to wrap his winch line around the axle and use two logs to keep the truck up and his diff in the right spot. Great trip and I'll be back there in August for the Marlin Round-Up.

Got a new 41.5" light bar from All Terrain Concepts and it's so much better than the old MicTuning one. The light is way brighter and the pattern is awesome.

Here are a ton of pics
