If done decently it looks pretty good, my old Baja Bug I camouflaged about 25 years ago and I think it was the best looking VW Baja in southern California in its day.
It has the added factor of being completely unique as none are ever alike.

My buddie just bought a 96 Sr5 that was professionally painted 2008-2011 jeep mango tango Orange metallic, personally its sick looking and probally the only one around painted that color, for mine I would go red or white I absolutely hate the green

I originally was dead set on a black one, but with all the mods I really do prefer the silver. Getting too old for a murdered-out ride. Outside of the silver, I really like the all-white 4Runners. Body, bumpers and flares. I had a mica Tacoma and I really loved that color too.

I think I have to second this, silver and white are timeless...although lime green is a great thought, Id get tires of being so obvious...one thing I like about the desert dune mine is, is that I blend in...keeps me out of trouble. I'm not one for red, but BMW Emola red is sick, think it would look great on a 4runner same as the limerock orange M3's

I love this new Spruce Mica Green the Tacoma has now. It is really nice, Dark, but shines in the sun light. Good looking Color.

Plain old white for me. Easy on the A/C and a little cooler for sleeping in the back.

If the 4runner had a little more classic lines, I would go with a vintage toyota paint job:
