They should be going for final fitment on Thursday. 4th Gen mounts are prototyped just need to cut and weld them

Hopefully it's grounding right compared to the usual hatch mount. guess I should start looking at antennas since my 4' firestik is going to be way too long.

I've been working on these for a few hours and I cannot find a way to mount the 5th gen without doing any cutting. I am going to be trying a mock up off of the hatch struts similar to the 4th gens. I know this is not what I planned before but I can't find a better way. I can offer a partial refund for those who prepaid

So let me start by saying that I don't know what I plan on doing yet. That said if someone wanted to back out at this point why would they only get a partial refund? On Dec 28th when I made payment, I was told that original design was shipping in two weeks. On Jan 11, I was told there was a set back and you had to find another shop to make them. On Feb 6, you state that the original design and the second design won't work and that you made you need to go with something completely different that is far from what was originally promised. Why would a member that has already paid need to settle for an alternative that may not work/want or partial reimbursement?

I should have worded that better. If you wanted to back out you would get a full refund, if you would still like one I would do a partial refund for the new design

This is the redesigned 5th gen, it needs to be bent a little more so that the top sits level, we just ran out of daylight. The Mount is very soild, I grabbed onto it and could shake the entire truck just by the Mount.

Can we get a few more pictures? Maybe a little closer and a few other angles? Could you also take a few with the hatch open? That picture make is too hard to really make out the mount. Thanks.
Any chance of having it mount lower on the body? I have a very tall antenna and this would make going through a low tree canopy very difficult.

I didn't take anymore for some reason and then we ran out of light, I was working at a buddies house. It is a very similar shape to the 4th Gen mount now, and I have more picture of that is that works for now. I honestly couldn't find any other way to mount it lower, there wasn't a good way to keep it snug to the taillight. I would recommend a 1 or 2 foot antenna.

I already purchase both a CB antenna and dune flag based upon your original post. with the mount way the hell up there they are both too long.
Also that does not look as strong as the original design. I really liked the original design better.

I agree it sucks. I guarantee that it is very strong, I could shake the truck from the mount. Send me a pm if you have a few minutes

Here's my concern. Based on experience with other hatch mounts, the ideal swr is hard to achieve because cb antennas work off a ground plane. The ground from the hatch to the rest of the body doesn't appear to be ideal. I'm wondering if there had been any testing or tuning yet to show that these mounts will actually ground properly to get a decent swr.

We did test the 4th Gen mount. We borrowed a 1 foot antenna from another truck and he could hear clearer than with his current setup

It was just a thin flat piece that mounted behind his bumper. He wanted a new setup and when I told him about using the strut mount he was very excited
This is the 4th Gen, it sits about a half inch further out now to help clear the coax cable, but you can see how with the antenna won't contact the roof rack with the hatch open

Where you have the new mount has very little gap between the body and the hatch. That location would need a super thin cable to get it in there. The gap is much bigger lower next to the tail light. Just a heads up you may want to check out before these go into production.
