Drive shaft assembly boot clamp leaking, can I DIY?

Hi everybody,
Was changing oil and notice that driver’s side have bunch of dirty grease around the drive shaft. Looks like the clamp on narrow side of the boot got loose just a bit and grease all over that place.
Talk to my coworker who used to fix car for leaving and he said that it will be much easier to install new (or refurbished) assembly than playing with the old one yourself.

Looking at the manual its pain in the a$$ to remove it yourself without tools and help.

So, my questions are:
1. How long I can drive my truck like that, I am going on vacation trip soon and do not want any surprises?
2. Where is the best place to buy new or refurbished whole assembly, so I can just go to local small shop and ask them to replace it?
3. Is there better options how to proceed in this situation?

Do a search. This was recently covered and can be easily fixed yourself.

No need to change the whole half shaft.
Quick and simple (but possibly messy) clamp fix. Check the link in my signature to get to the thread with my writeup.

Here is what I did.

I used these clamps because I could not find the same model number in the repait post. These clamps are the same thing just a tiny bit thicker.
316 STAINLESS SS HOSE CLAMP 25-40MM NORMA TORRO GEMI | eBay

If you need the larger size the same ebay store has them too. It was an easy job and I am glad I used the hose clamps instead of the generic cv boot clamps. The hose clamps went on very easy and will stay on.
