I have a 91 4runner and was thinking about lifting it 3in-4in, and was wandering if anyone has done this without cutting the perches on the rear axle and rotating it, and not desroyed there u-joints within 1000 miles?

Thanks,
Zach

You can shim the rear, but unless you have any vibes, I wouldant worry about it.

You staying IFS in the front? If so, there is nothing you can do about it.

Yeah im staying with the ifs in the front, i dont know if im right but, you cant shim coils on the rear.....but maybe im wrong.....just maybe

I don't know if there are any 4runner specific products out there but you can always get some bushings and longer bolts for the carrier bearing and drop it down an inch or so

Correct me if Im wrong, but Im pretty sure these years 4runners dont have carrier bearings.

What are carrier barrings?
I talked to a guy and he said just to get longer/ajustable control arms and adjustable track bar. Also im wandering does anyone make spacers for the cv axles and a spacer for the rear driveline where it bolts to the diff.
The front d-line should be good because its a double cardan(double u-joints coming off the t-case)
But yeah, if anyone knows where i can get those spacers ill be happy : )
~Thanks~

On extended cab Toyotas, the rear driveshaft is 2 pieces. The first shaft is shorter, and goes straight back, the second shaft is the one with the slip in it and thats the one that goes to the axle. The carrier bearings is what holds up the end of the first shaft.

THis pic is from a 05 (?) Taco, but the idea is the same.

I really wouldn't worry about the angle. Get your lift, then correct it if there are problems.

4 crawler has the spacers you need also just a thought to ponder you start to make your control arms longer and when you flex you are now going to be going in to the bumper area cause you will move axle back. i am 4inches over stock in back and have no problems (yet)

wont the axle go forward towards the engine becasue the control arms will pull it that direction?

with the 4in did you have to get a new track bar?

That is very good advice

Check 4crawler and I think BudBuilt for the drive shaft spacer.
No on a CV joint spacer, but IIRC T100 CV axles are a bit longer.

^ Thats a good point. How are you lifting the front?

4" IFS lifts come with diffdrops.

im gonna do a stiff coil lift in the rear and im not sure about the front, i dont really like the BJ spacers....if any has good advice for the front please post some url's or links!

If you dont like BJs (haha :D) then you can either get a long arm system such as Blazeland or Total Chaos, or get a drop bracket lift like rough country.
