Driver Seat Isue

I did a search and found quite a few issues, but not the one I'm having with my 2011 T4R SR5. Bought the truck new in February of 2011 and I have noticed that the left side seat bolster is collapsing. It appears to be happening as I exit the vehicle left leg first obviously and stepping on the ground.
The seat in the area where my thigh applies pressure getting out is crushed. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem. Never happened on my 16 year old 3rd gen!!!

I think this is very common. My 10 is pretty bad, but it was like that when I bought it. Unless you have a step, I don't see it couldn't happen. The bolster gets wrenched constantly.

Yup. Common complaint. I have a 2010 Trail. Black interior. Looked bad after one week. Was a little upset but let it go. 6 years later, not much worse and I don't give it a second thought. It helps if you lift your butt when getting out but I don't even bother doing that.
 
That's pretty lame for Toyota that has a pretty good build quality. I mean I'm 6' tall and stepping out is not an issue and is a natural movement. I could see if I was 5' tall this would have been an issue.
 
That side has been bad on every car I've owned and my family has owned. Not just a Toyota problem.
 
My 16 Trail only has about 7400 miles, but the cloth is looking worn already. Bolster is still ok. Although my biggest concern was the driver seat power track had a ton of play when you'd move it at all. Toyota warrantied the seat track and replaced it, but the new one has a little play too. Much better though. Anyone else have seat track issues? Concerned it might return.

Mines just grinded like there's gravel in the track (from day 1). I'm the only driver so not that big a deal. Never got it looked at. Don't think it's any worse after 6 years.

It grinded a bit too in about a 2-3" section of the travel. But it was the play that annoyed me. It didn't seem to move as much after it sat for a few days, but the minute you moved the seat it had about 1/8" back and forth slop you could feel every stop. New track seems better and there's no rough spot. Little play, but not bad. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
 
This is actually really common on taller vehicles, those bolsters are really built up compared to older cars and people slide over them rather than lift themselves out of the seat (I do the same thing in my 4th gen) and they start to wear down. The guys who have the leather seats will see them tear/crack/wear out over time, my cloth seat has been holding up fine in my 4th gen, though there is "shadows" where the cloth has been creasing from that.
 
I've been making an effort to lift my ass up before entering and exiting just to prevent this. Once I lift it'll be necessary. It's not the getting in part that seems to be difficult it's exiting without looking like a complete tool. :dancin:

With my C4 sliders you are standing just about level with the actual flooring so getting out requires you to have power knees. It's probably close to the feeling of trying to crawl out of corvette.
 
My issue is not with the bolster but with the actual cloth on the seating area. I have the sr5 2012 & this cloth area where the driver's behind sits had holes in it (many) from wear. I had this replaced in 2015, had to pay for labor but toyota replaced the seat cover. It is now 2017 & the very same thing is happening! My friends 2012 TRD definitely has better fabric on the seats than mine. Anyone else have this issue rather than the bolster issue? TIA
 
Mine looks nearly identical as it did the day I bought it.

Passenger side outside bolster has a little creasing near the back from my girlfriend though.
 
The other thing I notice a few weeks ago after owning my truck new since February 2012, I have manual seats. My driver seat is solid but it sounded like the springs in the seat would make noise every time I braked. I took WD40 and strayed the tracks under the seat and it took car of the problem. Weird!!!!

They collect dirt and debris over time, it's not a bad idea to clean them and hit them with a light coat of lube. Otherwise they get a bit gravely sounding. Just be careful not to stain the carpet when cleaning/lubing them.
