Drivers window goes up/down one-touch. But it won’t stop in between.

Guys,
I read about resetting the windows, (for instance after a battery change) but that doesn’t seem to be my problem. My drivers window won’t stop at any position between full up or full down. Is this a common issue? I can’t find anything on this. Bad switch?

Gotta be gentle. Maybe the in-between contact is a little dirty. Perhaps get rough with it back and forth a bit then super soft. Yes, I'm still talking about the window switch.
 
When the window switches start to fail this can happen.

Its a cheap part and easy to replace, just use a plastic spudger to separate the plastic cladding on the door panel from the door frame and be careful not to hurt the paint, you can just pop out the bottom which will let you access the window switch.
 
Thanks guys. I’ll pull off the panel and look at replacing the switch. Grrr, one thing after another with this truck. :noidea:
 
Guys, I’m researching a switch replacement and have a couple questions. Some of the places that sell the entire switch panel (apparently a single switch isn’t available) say their unit is “18 Pins”. Does anyone know if ours are 18 pins? The alternative, apparently is 14 pins. Was hoping I could avoid removing everything to find out.

Also, are the switches lighted in any way?

FWIW, I have ‘08 Limited.

I don't know about the pins but mine does not have lights on my limited. Not sure about the 08 but seeing folks add a light mod I would think not. As for the auto up, I think if you hit the up button a second time it will stop where it is.

Thanks. Yea, hitting the button a second time doesn’t stop mine. Not a deal breaker but inconvenient as heck. So far I’m not able to find a replacement switch.
 
I'm seeing a few replacement panels on ebay from $27-70

Might want to try a local junkyard or cough up $27 and see if that fixes it

The "auto" on the driver's window switch does light up on my 2004 Limited. none of the other switches light up though.
 
Thanks guys. I’ll dig deeper. A couple of the eBay and website vendors, when questioned directly, said their switches were not for the front left.

I did find the Switchdoctor part but can’t yet confirm if I have (or even what it means) to have 18 pins.

Good news about the lighted switch, too.

Sorry, you have to hit the opposite button quickly and it should stop.
 
Getting mine to stop has always been a pain, but it's gotten worse with age. My "auto" light went out recently also so I was just looking into replacements. Aftermarkets are cheap. A lot of salvage on ebay also in the $70 range. I could only find new Toyota for $580 and up. :wow:

Anyone know if the "auto" LED can be replaced?
